Progesterone 7.5 what does it mean

Only this month I am late, usually 32-33 day cycles, now on cd41 no af bfn

I feel so ill, lower back pain, boobs are killing, dizzy, headache, tired all the time, mood swings.

Having white thick discharge or wet clear cm, when having intercourse last night I felt pressure in my right pelvic region, not painful but uncomfortable.

Spoken to nurse who advised my levels were 7.5 she didn't explain what that meant.

I am still needing to have my fsh and lh bloods taken and my tubes dyed to check for blockage, but still no af I'm so frustrated she's told me I need to see GP for swabs to rule out infection then ring back if no af.

In booked in for transvaginal scan end of the month to test for pcos.

I feel so scared and feel like a failure I cannot stop crying.

I have PCOS and am a parent. I realise its scary but you can be helped here. I would further educate yourself re PCO and PCOS because knowledge is power. Learn too about the treatment options and do not ever be afraid to ask questions.

You're not a failure; you have a medical problem that is currently preventing conception. PCO is very common and around 1 in every 5 women have polycystic ovaries.

Will be happy to talk to you about the HSG further if you want; its basically a tubal x-ray and can give info not easily accessible by other methods. It should not be painful either particularly if the dye is inserted both carefully and slowly.

Have you had such pain in your pelvic area before now?. Any pain that is cyclical in nature should be investigated further to establish the cause.

On which day in the cycle was your progesterone test done; this should have been done around day 21. A level of 7.5 would have indicated no ovulation on the day. You really do need LH and FSH compared against each other as well; this is what the day 2 test is for.

Blood tests can also be done according to calendar days so your LH/FSH test could be done on or around the 2nd of each month.

Hi

Thank you for replying. What medication did they give you for pcos/pcos to conceive !?

I've started spotting tonight so I think af is on her way. I've never had pelvic pain like this before all this has suddenly cropped up on me this month when my period has been due.

The spots I'm breaking out in too are horrendous and painful, I feel at the moment that I can't concentrate with my eyes and it hurts to keep them open my head is also pounding, like a headache I've never had.

I'm waiting now for full flow to book in for my hsg and for my fsh lh.

I have never felt this poorly not in a very long time, to describe it it feels as though someone has drugged me up whilst hitting my head with an hammer :(

Hi Sarah

Am sorry you feel so unwell at present.

I was not actually given clomid (which is usually the first line of treatment for PCOS) as they said it would not help me (due to my very high LH levels). Due to the funding for injectable drugs taking an age the hospital suggested I have an operation called a laparoscopic ovarian diathermy, I almost fell off my chair in shock!. Anyway I had this op and it was successful; some endometriosis (which also was the root cause of my painful periods and pelvic pain) was removed and the cystic follicles on the ovaries were lasered. This op restored ovulation and I became pregnant soon after. This is a very potted history and does not go into all the emotions but it was a very lonely and isolating time.

I would suggest you keep a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do so and note everything including any spotting. This will help the gynaecologist when you see this person.

LH/FSH testing should be done around day 3 of the cycle; ensure that LH is compared against FSH and not just looked at separately.

Do keep us posted, will be glad to help where possible.

Hmm, did you have a progesterone test on day 21 of your cycle? Normally a result of 30 or above means you've ovulated that month but it is only valid if done no more than 7 days before your period. So this month the test almost certainly means nothing at all and you should try again until you get the timing right.

Thank you for taking your time to replying back to me, reading your story and your experience has given me hope.

I have heard of the ovarian drilling and even reading it scared me lol but when it comes to it I think I'd try anything. I'm so pleased to read it worked for you and it makes me very happy to hear of your pregnancy soon afterwards.

Af is definitely coming so I'll ring regarding my lh and fsh bloods tomorrow. Can you recommend or advise what I should do beforehand ? As lots of things I've read on the internet said with regards to progesterone being checked, to fast and have them done in the morning as it can interfere with the results. Unsure what to believe on that one though.

I've also been reading about Hypoglycemia which is related to pcos, it's insulin resistance and every single symptom is what I'm experiencing right now. Including all the lightheadedness. Have you heard of that before ? X

Have you had an ultra scan done for Pco? Im having one hopefully next month as I have suspected pco. I had a blood test last week as my periods have been missing or delayed since stopping the pill 7 months ago.

My blood came back that I had high testosterone. Have to have my lh and fsh checked next month on day 2-5 of my period. Annoyingly my blood were done on day one of my period!

I hope your results come back normal, this is all scary stuff!
