Is anyone else trying following a vasectomy reversal?
MummysMaison · 09/05/2017 15:01
Hello,
My DH is booked in for his reversal in June. He had it prior to meeting me.
I have 2 DDs (11&8)
I was just wondering if anyone else is trying to get pregnant following a reversal. My main worry is that it won't work at all and I'm worried that if I do fall pregnant I'll have a MC as I have had 4 in the past around the time I had my daughters.

My Oh had a reversal which unfortunately didn't work, the surgeon performed the operation again and now we have 3 little lovelies!! Has your surgeon given you any indication of the chance of success?

Thank you for replying. He's been given a 84% chance of it being successful, then I just have to get pregnant! We researched lots about which surgeon to choose etc. I'm not sure if it failed that we would be able to afford it doing again.
Do you mind if I ask how long it took after the second reversal for you to get pregnant?

Our chances were 50%, so less than yours. When we got the negative result the 1st time, our surgeon was shocked and offered to perform the surgery again for free, which happened beginning of Dec and I fell pregnant in the March! We had to travel back to the UK as we live abroad, which made things a little tricky!! Have you researched throughly into surgeons?

Sorry I've just seen that you researched surgeons! Where did you choose?

We live in France so my DH is flying over for the op. I have to stay here . I'm praying for the best! It gives me hope hearing of success stories like yours! Thanks x

We are in the Charente, about an hour from Bordeaux!

Missed your other question. We are going to Dr Harriss at BMI Nottingham.

My bf had a reversal March 16, I have a DD and he has 2xDS. We have yet to fall pregnant. I'm getting so disheartened about it. I fell pregnant with my DD really quickly and my BFs sperm test only came back at 20 million with 40% have antibodies. His surgeon has now retired. I'm only 33 and he's only 35 and BF is refusing to go through with it again as it was so painful. Anyone else been in a similar situation?
Runsforwine · 17/05/2017 07:34
I'm sorry Njane that you are feeling down, it's still only 8 weeks since his operation very early days? I don't know what the sperm count and antibodies mean in terms of getting pregnant, is it a very low result?
Njane873 · 17/05/2017 15:08
His results of 20 million is on the cusp of normal. Anti bodies half it.
MummysMaison · 18/05/2017 13:28
Hi Njane. I'm sorry to hear you haven't got your BFP yet but don't lose faith! I'm not clued up on the counts etc.
Runsforwine · 19/05/2017 12:10
Njane my mistake I thought you meant March 16th this year! Are you ovulating regularly? Have you spoken to your own Dr and have you had yourself checked out too?

Hi
My other half has also just had reversal last month too! How did yours go? We were told it went well but no fluid was seen so now I'm panicking it won't work.
Good luck xx

As it had been more than ten years since my husband's vasectomy, we were advised not to bother with reversal and go straight for ivf with surgical sperm retrieval for he best chance of having a baby. Worked first time. Just to say there is another option if reversal is unsuccessful.
