What is baby aspirin??

I've seen quite a few mentions of baby aspirin on this site? Can someone please enlighten me on the benefits of taking it before or during ivf? Dose, length of time taking it etc? I start stims in about 3 weeks and wondering if I should take it. Thanks!

It's a smaller dose of aspirin than usual in each tablet- that's why it's called baby aspirin.

The supposed benefit is that it's meant to help blood flow round the ovaries- potentially increasing follicle sizes and numbers. I must admit though, I took it during my ivf cycle and I can't say it helped me in terms of follicle numbers. Others may say different.

I've been wondering about baby aspirin too as heard it could help with implantation. I'm currently on a medicated frozen cycle and not too sure when would be best to start it. Have heard some who've taken it throughout, some starting a week before embryo transfer and some after embryo transfer. Confused!!!! Would be great to hear what others have done.

I got mine in Boots, it's 75mg.

As an aside, has anyone experienced dizziness while taking baby aspirin?

It's just the 75mg of aspirin tablets rather than the full 150mg. You can get it in Tesco, it's sometimes labelled for people with heart conditions (?i think). I'd check with a dr before taking it though - the research on it has been mixed unless you've got a condition which needs treating. Lots of threads about it on here if you have a search.

I took it from day of transfer as advised by my doctor in Italy. I had the transfer in the morning and he advised me to take cardio aspirin after lunch that day and continue with it daily during the 2ww and then to 12 weeks if pregnant. This was for a FET. He also advised us to do the same for our fresh cycle.

Otherwise known as low dose aspirin it is used a lot in maternity services. It acts as an anti clotting agent which promotes good blood flow through small vessels.
I took it for a disorder that makes clotting faster (antiphospholipid syndrome) which causes miscarriage.
It is also taken to prevent pre eclampsia and low birthweight babies.

We were unsuccessful with our fresh cycle but I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant after the fet. I did not experience any dizziness whilst taking baby aspirin. Hope you have success!

Thanks all! Went for my scan yesterday and lining isn't thickening much so to carry on with hrt another week. Lining is half the thickness it was at the same stage of treatment three months ago so I'm starting to be suspicious that the aspirin might be thinning my lining. Dr told me to start it now but I have no history of miscarriage, just thin lining. Can't understand why my lining would be so much worse this cycle. Still feeling dizzy and tired, clinic dont think it's the hormones causing it, so who knows!!

Anyone had negative experience with baby aspirin?

I'm really interested in negative accounts of baby aspirin too! I started taking it over a year ago when I suffered my first miscarriage (my sister recommended it after 4 consecutive miscarriages then conceiving my niece 5 weeks after starting aspirin therapy). However, I am now starting to wonder if this has been contributing to my difficulties conceiving again?? Here are the facts in black and white; I took 3 months to conceive my DS. Then we started ttc for #2 December 2015. I fell pregnant after 3 months again! I lost that pregnancy and started aspirin... I didn't fall again for another 8 months, then sadly miscarried again. I continued the aspirin and it has been a further 6 months. I know these timescales aren't particularly long in the scheme of things, but I'm starting to wonder if it's a coincidence that it's taking me longer to fall pregnant while on aspirin? If I'm not pregnant this cycle, I plan to cut it out of my supplement cocktail!
