TTC naturally after failed IVF Cycle

I found out this morning that my IVF cycle has failed. The hospital said that if i want to try another cycle I will have to wait until I have had 3 periods/bleeds including the one which will come in the next few days after stopping the pessaries this morning. Then on the third bleed I can start suprecur injections on day 21.

Has anyone else been in the same situation and if so how many cycles did you have to wait?

Also is it OK to try and conceive naturally in the meantime. I forgot to ask this and suppose I can phone them but wanted to get everyone else's opinion. I probably won't get pregnant unless a miracle happens but there's no harm in trying.

I waited 4 months between first and second cycles. Could have started after 3 but planned a relaxing TTC break over Christmas so waited for that to be out of the way before next round.

There is no reason not to TTC after failed IVF and there are anecdotes about how IVF 'resets' certain things allowing for natural conception. But in your third month, you'll have to avoid unprotected sex from day 1 of your period until you start Suprecur else your clinic might make you wait another month.

I felt a bit silly delaying IVF to try to TTC naturally when it hadn't worked in so many years but it was only a month and meant we were in a better place mentally and emotionally after the holiday. You can only do what's right for you.

Also 3 months is the time it takes for eggs and sperm to mature so if you want to make any changes, it's a good time to do it. For example I decided to eat much healthier for the second cycle, organic everything, vitamin supplements for me and DH, acupuncture. No idea if it helped (I did get a BFP in the second cycle) but I felt like I was more in control.

Sorry to hear you failed it. I agree you should take some time between your ivfs and ttc attempts. I had to wait 3 month to recover after the stimulation. It's better not to haste the things here. Otherwise it may result in certain health problems. Hope your next time would be luckier

I went through 6 rounds of stimulation with timed intercourse and all failed
Then 7 Failed cycles of IUI
Then 3 failed cycles of IVF+ICSI+PGD

Finally I conceived with my only child spontaneously.

Unfortunately my husband has developed erectile dysfunction and we were able to try naturally again. After my child's birth we went through 3 failed IVF+ICSI+PGD, 1 failed IUI and 1 failed FET..

We've seen many doctors and no doctor can rule out the cause of infertility. We are both very young. My son is 5 now and breaks my heart everytime he asks for a sibling and wonders why we can't provide him with one

Thank you everyone. I know we need to take some time in between attempts but I'm impatient and at 43 haven't got much time left. My ds turned 5 this year and I desperately want a sibling for him. We have a follow up appointment on Tuesday with the consultant to talk about where we go from here. Not sure whether to try another round of ivf or just try naturally. We are unexplained but our son was conceived through our first round of ivf.

Sorry to hear that the IVF was unsuccessful. I know your inpatient to start again,I would be, but it is best to give yourself a break. You can always try naturally in the mean time. You say your infertility is unexplained, have you had your eggs tested for quality? Just a woman's egg quality can go down dramatically after 36. Good luck op

I recently had a blood test to check my egg reserve and it was above average for my age. I didn't think you could test for egg quality broody but I may be wrong. We got 2 really good top grade embryos from our latest round of ivf. Just a shame one of them didn't want to implant.
