Infertility

What to expect at first appointment (infertility referall)

Hi, we have been TTC for nearly 3 years and my doctor referred me to a fertility specialist at the local hospital. I've had my day 21 blood test done at the gp and my husband has had a sperm analysis all the results have been good so far. Will the hospital just be asking questions on the first appointment or doing some examinations? Really not sure what to expect

Sorry I can't give any info. I would be interested to know though. I have had initial blood tests and a pelvic scan, docs says next step is referral.

Hope all goes well for you x

My experience of first appointment was that consultant did a scan (the delightful dildocam) and I had bloods for amh, fsh, lh etc. Dp was also booked for sa as he hadn't
done one at that point.

After all those results came back they decided on course of treatment (in our case ivf)

Good luckSmile

Thanks isthismummy that's very helpful. I was wondering if I should prepare myself incase they whip out dildocam lol the gp did mention it but I was confused if it was first appointment or not as I know they like to time some of the test with your cycle stage.

Hi poppy I'm going on the 21st so will let you know what happens:) my referral was super quick, gp said it'd be about 3 months but it ended being 2 weeks

I'd prepare yourself for dildocam. They seem to love whipping it outGrin

Fab, hope it all went well. The joys of infertility dildo cam and all! We go to GP tomorrow evening for my pelvic scan results. i just want to know what's up and what we do next... I know we might not get an answer quickly though. So impatient!

What everyone else said, they'll do more blood tests and ultrasound. And then they'll decide for the next course of treatment

So our referral to the sub fertility clinic went in today. We are told it can take up to 18 weeks and they will most likely start with drugs to ensure ovulation then take it from there.
I'd be interested to hear your experience as you go through this process too Rose.
