Urgent advice needed

I'm due to star ivf today with the contraceptive pill microgynon. Just checked my drugs box and they didn't send any!
111 are sorting me a prescription but the pharmacist has just called to say there are 2 types of microgynon. Progesterone only which you take constantly and a combined type which you normally take for 21 days then have a break for 7. I think I need the former but does anyone know?

Does your clinic not have an emergency mobile no to call?

I've had tons of ivf and always took the progesterone only pill. It's just to give to a bleed at the right time so they can get your cycle ready to start all the drugs etc for when they expect, so honestly I don't think it will matter.
Do double check with your clinic though.

You should have a emergency contact number or even the clinics number ti put your through to the nurses that deal with you.

Are you private or NHS?

All sorted thank panic over. Found a number which led to another which led to a real person. They should clearly set out the out of hours number though.

TinySalmon they're not. They're the combined one. Ethinylestradiol is oestrogen and levonorgestrel is progesterone.

Level75. I don't understand what the pharmacist is saying. Microgynon is a combined pill. There isn't a progesterone only microgynon (microgynon is the brand name). There are sort of 2 types of microgynon in that there is the normal one with 21 tablets in each pack, where if you were using it for contraception (which you're obviously not) you'd take it for 3 weeks, have a week's break at the end of the pack and then restart it. The other form of microgynon is exactly the same except it has 21 active tablets in the pack and 7 inactive/sugar pills in it, so if you're using it as contraception you take the 7 sugar pills instead of having a week's break from tablets and then start the next pack straight away (the idea being that you don't stop it and then forget to restart it).

Normally for ivf down regulation you need the former-i.e. Just the active pills (and if you need to take the pill for more than 3 weeks you just go straight onto the next pack), but obviously check this with your clinic.
