Egg sharing IVF experiences

I've been lurking around this board for a long time, been TTC for 2.5 years and been "diagnosed" with unexplained infertility after the usual bloods/scans/lap. We are on the waiting list for NHS IVF, one cycle.

From what I understand you need to have 3 cycle of IVF to have a good chance of success. The first one is most useful as a diagnostic tool etc. We could remortgage the house to fund extra cycles but I'm thinking about egg sharing to get cheaper/free IVF. I don't think I've got any issue sharing eggs, in fact the thought of helping someone else feels like a positive thing.

I suppose I don't know how I would feel if the recipient got pregnant and I didn't/I didn't produce enough eggs to share though but I think the potential benefit out weighs these.

I qualify in terms of age (for the next year at least) and tests I've had but would need to have amh test also to qualify.

Until recently I never wanted to do IVF, I thought I would explore other options if it didn't happen naturally but now I need to try everything before I give up.

Interested in any experiences of this, positive or negative.

Yes we are considering egg share to help with cost of it! I am just waiting for results of amh test it's quite exciting but daunting at the same time! I haven't any children but my partner does and it's just not happening due to partners motility in sperm so we have been told icsi - does anyone have any experience on this? Unfortunately we have to go private! Such a worry trying to get money together that it nearly puts us off but I so desperately want a child! Any comments or advice would be great

Hi there natty, the clinics I've spoken to say you have to pay for icsi, but only a supplement. Good luck with amh result. Having my test on Tuesday, fingers crossed!

A supplement? Our consultant basically saying will cost 7000 without sharing n 3000 if I share my eggs! So much different info it mind blowing! Fingers crossed for u for tues :) xxx

natty The lister seem to just charge the HFEA fee of £80 plus icsi at £770 supplement. Might be worth looking around.

Natty. Look about. Many clinics offer free ivf if sharing. Think have to be have to be under 36?

Thanks for the info girls! I don't understand why our consultant telling us it's this much money and it's the price what u say? Do u think we should try some other clinic we under Nuffield in Shrewsbury as we cudnt get nhs help due to my partner having a 19 year old son! Stitchsmum what advice can u give thing I am worried abt is if share eggs n mine don't work then I am childless forever I can't seem get head around making this decision. In hindsight we cudnt afford another go well we can't really afford this but there's no alternative but to get in debt is there? Did it happen first time? Blondeshavemorefun I am 33 years old so I will have a look for this information online :) it's so expensive and then there's the tests etc vitamins and everything else it's hard to think maybe come out with nothing

It is expensive. Df has 3 kids in 39's so I lost my NHS right of 3 go's. Very unfair but it's final. :(

We just saved and worked overtime and saved more and loans and credit cards - took 5 attempts and £27k to get bubs

With every penny now but while doing ivf and failing each time devasting :(

Have a proper research. Think it's care or create in London which is free to egg share. I used sister clinic in Kent and R.E.M. Reading about free if share but 1) im was too old 2) would feel weird knowing a half sibling about somewhere 3) in 18yrs that egg you share could come knocking on your door

Also look abroad. Ivf treatment is much cheaper tho if share eggs then uk clinics are free. Obv abroad you have flight costs

Well worth icsi. If you do have to pay extra for it often about £1k but again may be free if sharing eggs

Bourn Hall is free including ICSI as that's what we need. The only thing we will have to pay for is the initial tests.

You really should look around.

I have my first appointment at the lister tomorrow having scan and blood to see if i would be suitable for egg share

It went really well thank you everyone was very friendly made me feel at ease I had a Amh blood test and scan will have blood results Monday but from the scan they said I'm an ideal candidate had lots of follicles ( think that's right what there looking for lol ) have another appointment next week 😀

So been ttc for over 6 years now. (We already have a 10yr old) we recently decided to do egg sharing through my clinic, bloods have just come back all fine so waiting for our appointment in a cooked of weeks. Through our clinic we are looking at paying around £3000 worse case scenario but I've just been doing a little research and see that there are clinics offering ivf cycles for free for sharers? Has anyone had any experience with this and confirm if it's true?

My partner and I are currently waiting to share our eggs and we have been registered since 3rd January. We are going to be paying approximately £3600 with egg sharing.

How long have people waited to find a couple wanting eggs in the past? Our clinic are fantastic but not sure that they are really committed to finding a couple needing eggs.

My clinic has said it will be no longer than 2weeks to find a recipient for us, apparently there is a pretty big waiting list and recipients are really eager. I hope you get matched up soon!

Hi all. Looking for some advice. I have pcos and a high AMH level. I have looked into egg sharing has anyone been accepted for Egg sharing with a highier than normal AMH ?

Me. My AMH level was 67 in 2014 and i did my 4th egg share. My iittle boy is 3 from that cycle.
I also have PCOS. I was turned down from CARE in Northampton for having PCOS but have been to 3 different clinics since and was accepted at all.
