Ivf and due dates

I'm asking what may seem like a very premature question but I'm in a new job so Im trying to calculate the earliest time we could start ivf and get maternity leave if we were incredibly (unlikely) lucky.

For those of you who had ivf and got pregnant (congratulations!) did the scan change your dates or because it's ivf do they stick with your dates?

Thank you!

It seems to depend where you are. My GP wanted to go by last period date, which is meaningless. I ended up giving a date 14 days before egg collection as the charts assume a 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14.

Scan didn't change my dates. They knew exactly what dates to work to because it was ivf. There's no point in looking at last period dates with ivf. I think u have to be in a new job for 6 months before you are pregnant to qualify for smp

My twins looked a couple of days ahead on one scan but she said no point changing date as we knew the exact date thanks to IVF!

Chatty, that's not right, I think you've misinterpreted the info.

You need to have been in your new job for 26 weeks at the 25th week of pregnancy - so at least one week before your LMP of a regular cycle.

However, if you don't qualify for SMP you'll still get maternity allowance which is the same except you get the £140-odd for 39 weeks instead of 90% for 6, then £140 for the rest of the time.

I did the same as PPs in that I worked out EDD based on egg collection date and then gave the date 14 days before as my LMP to get the same due date. My dates were not changed, even though my baby was measuring 3 days ahead at 12 week scan, because IVF dates are more accurate. I know other places do change dates based on size at the scan, but I would try to resist if this was suggested.

Thanks all!! I've ready my maternity leave policy so working dates out based on that. Which is good news as long as egg collection is 2 weeks after 19th April then I will get full maternity pay . Not as long as I thought I would have to wait so I am pleased.
Thank you!

I have a quick question following on from this. We have now been referred for IVF on the NHS but I am about to start a new job so hoping to delay starting so as not to take the mick straight away!
Based on potentially waiting a few months before starting I'm wondering if I might actually become eligible also for the companies enhanced maternity pay. Does anyone know if it is confidential to ask HR about this? I don't want to go in asking on my first day, but also want to know!

I would ask a generic question to HR about being pointed towards the relevant policies - quite often they are on an intranet so can be browsed at leisure, or perhaps a bunch of documents that can be provided, it doesn't have to be obvious that it's the maternity policy that your interested in. If that doesn't work, I would leave it a little while before asking HR directly, perhaps after probation period.

I don't have any HR experience though so someone more knowledgeable may have a different view.
