First IVF appointment. How soon after does treatment start?

We have our first consultation for IVF at Guys on 24/01/17.

Terrified and only way I can cope is by telling myself it won't work.

How soon after first consultation do people normally start treatment? It hasn't given me much detail on letter. My main concern is my lining. It was only 3mm on my last scan.

First appt was in December. Then had scans and tests. Another appt in Jan with consultant. Started treatment in April. To be fair though, should have started in march but I had a random cyst so ended up waiting another month.

There is a website you can go on which tells you each clinics waiting list times? Maybe worth a google. We literally started straight away as no waiting time (Oxford)

I've been told there's no waiting list for Guys. I

I'm concerned cos I'm getting married in June and don't want them to clash. Also want time to get over the disappointment beforehand if it fails.

Just had to find it again!
guide.hfea.gov.uk

Then you click on each clinic and it tells you waiting times!

Hi isthismummy
I'm waiting for our first appointment at guys at the moment.
Replied to the email with all the info and now back to waiting again! Do mind me asking how long you waited between sending the email back and receiving your appointment?
Wishing you lots of luck x

Hi Jenga,

I think our circumstances may be a bit different as we didn't receive any email to send back.

We were referred by GP and had our initial consultation in October. We then had to have bloods/SA etc done. Once they were back the consultant rang me to say she was putting us forward for IVF. We then got letter last week with our first IVF appointment at end of January.

Sorry not to be more helpful. What did the email you completed consist of? Guys do seem s**t hot on waiting times, so hopefully you will hear back soon.

Thank you for the well wishes. It's a weird one though. We've been told our chances are so slim that I've pretty much not even considered it possibly working. Probably a defence mechanism against more upset...
