Abbreviations!! Can anyone fill me in please!? 😊

Hello everybody. I'm quite new to mumsnet having recently read / made a thread about IVF. I really don't know what all the abbreviations are, regarding conception, periods, IVF, even regarding partners etc. I'm out of the loop! If anyone feels like offering me with any nuggets of wisdom to support my new dictionary that I think I need to follow posts properly I would be most obliged!! The only one I have figured out is Aunt Flow for period. (Not that I use abbreviations myself but I would like to understand!! Why is the man / husband / partner called DH? )

There's an acronyms list on the forum page. Hth (hope that helps!).

Dh is dear husband
Dc is dear children
DD is dear daughter
Ds is dear son
Ltb is leave the bastard (mainly on relationships board)
Dpil is dear parents in law
Fil father in law
MIL mother in law

Only a husband is DH. It's because D is such a useful initial - covering a wide range of epithets from dratted via dog-breathed and dick-head to dear.

A few that may help you on the infertility board...

AF - Aunt Flo (your period)
BFP - big fat positive (pregnancy test)
BFN - big fat negative
DPO - days past ovulation
DPT - days past transfer (of embryo in IVF cycle)
