IVF on NHS..how long are we talking here?

We had our initial nhs appointment on 20th September (our gp referred us to gynaecology) then our next appointment is on November 7th in where the Dr told us she'll refer us for IVF. I have to go in for an ultrasound in the meantime.
Once she refers us to ivf roughly how long will it be before we actually have the IVF?

Totally depends on the hospital. I had to wait a total of 8 months after my referral to start IVF and another 6 months to do my FET. That was a busy London hospital that had a long waiting list though. For others it has been much quicker. In theory it should be no longer than 18 weeks (referral to treatment time) as that's the standard but it never seems to apply to IVF. 6-7 weeks between appointments sounds promising though, hopefully you won't have to wait too long. Before IVF though, you want to have had all the appropriate investigations.

But have made a new life for myself. Met a man. Engaged and after 5 private ivf I'm 15w preg

From the time I went to the gp to start testing to actually starting the ivf it was 2 years.

Thanks for your response ladies. I have investigations done privately, bloods, hycosy etc also tried clomid. So I don't think there's any need to do investigations on me, she said she'll be putting us on the list in November. My bmi is 30.5 and need to get it to 29.9

I think you can expect IVF within 6 months then. Looking at their website, they highlight short waiting times on the IVF page so could be sooner. They might not put you in the list until you get below the BMI threshold, my first clinic wouldn't list until all criteria were met.

Good luck Broody, I'm still having to go through quite a few tests even though issue is known to be with DH and we will need icsi.

Vixzface did you have to have tests done before the IVF or any course of fertility Meds? We have done all testing privately so hopefully she will refer us for IVF straight away if my bmi is down.
