IVF Cycle 1 - issues!

Hi there,
I am currently on day 10 of stimms for my first cycle of IVF - short protocol. Reason for IVF is low ovarian reserve. I've been for 2 scans during this time and have one later today. The first they said I was responding as well as they'd like so they upped my Gonal F from 200-275. 2 days later when back for a scan and said I had responded but still not to optimal level so upped it again to 350. I'll go in today to see how I'm doing. However during the second scan there were 2 other issues. The first, one of my ovaries is high so they don't think they'll be able to collect eggs from it vaginally and will have to go through abdomen. Apparently also risk here is they might not be able to collect them all/any as its quiet tricky this way. The second is I have fluid in my uterus. I had it before once and it went away with AF. The doc reckons it's when my estrogen level increases this happens. This means implantation wouldn't be successful so they are going to try drain it at egg collection and see. Hearing all this bad news is so hard!! I remember before i started IVF hearing how difficult it was but I had no idea it would be SO hard. Feel like this week has been the worst week of my life! Just wondered if anyone else has had any of these issues and overcome them to get a successful cycle? Thanks ladies Smilexx

Morning Ladies, how are you? I'm feeling better today but soooo nervous waiting to hear if any of my eggs have fertilised! I'm also really worrying about this fluid. Doc said there was only a little bit in there and they chose not to drain it so do you think we can still go to transfer? I really want to! The fluid has been reducing and reducing and with a walk and acupuncture today I'm hoping it's gone for tomorrow but am worried. Have you heard about fluid before? xx

Hopefully you will have a 5 day transfer, so it will have a few more days to drain. Don't do too much today- it's an invasive surgery that you had yesterday. I could barely walk and it took us nearly half an hour to go round the blocj- my 90 year old neighbour passed us!

Have to work, so won't be checking in until thus evening. Good luck!

user1464093566 · 28/07/2016 08:06

Thanks! Yer I won't be doing much if anything today. Was thinking a walk around this evening if I'm feeling ok. Have a good day!!!

Did you get the fertilisation results user? Obviously don't share if you'd prefer not to. Just remember it takes only one.

user1464093566 · 28/07/2016 17:40

Hey. I did and 8 out of the 10 have fertilised! I honestly had tears of happiness. Getting to this stage has been so upsetting with constant bad news so it's beyond what I'd dreamt!! I know it's very early days and so much more to come but for now I'm happy and feeling excited. Still sore from EC but having a stroll and acupuncture tonight to help with the fluid. Going in tomorrow for bloods and scan to check fluid and will know more about the eggs/embryos then - are they embryos yet?! I'm not sure!! xxx

That's brilliant lolly! Great news!

drinkyourmilk · 28/07/2016 19:14

Lolly that's fantastic news! You must be thrilled.

Lolly2803 · 28/07/2016 20:47

I am! So happy! Nervous about the fluid tomorrow - praying it's gone so I can go to transfer. She didn't drain it as planned yesterday as there was only a small amount there so hoping now it's gone. Had acupuncture tonight too. Keeping everything crossed for the next few days - such a roller coaster isn't it?!!

lotsoffreckles · 29/07/2016 08:43

That's great news Lolly Flowers

So good news and bad news today. The good news is that our 8 embryos are all still developing as they should and are good quality. Day 2 so still a way to go but good news.
The bad news is my lining is 5.4mm and no triple layer so it's unlikely I'll be able to have ET this cycle. But not given up yet! In addition to my lining thickening tablets and those things you stick up your bum I've also now got 2 patches to stick on my bum! I'm booked in for a scan on Monday to check lining and if by some miracle it's thickened up we'll have ET same day (Day 5). The Embryologist will let us know tomorrow how they're looking and whether they are OK to take to day 5 but so far so good. If the linings isn't thick then we'll freeze them all and I'll go in for a hyscopy or something that sounds like that and they'll investigate why I had the fluid and why my lining is thin. (Fluid has almost gone). Feeling so upset and emotional today. On the one hand I'm thrilled with our embryos and on the other I'm desperately disappointed. Having acupuncture again tomorrow and have been advised on leafy greens, red meat, Brazil nuts and putting warm water bottle on my bits to help thickening. If anyone has any other tips/success stories I'm all ears! Got till Monday morning to thicken up!! Xx

Lining not thick enough and doesn't look like "a good texture" or have a triple layer. Waiting to see how many of our 8 embryos have made it to Day 5 (today) we'll know this afternoon. Aim is to freeze them all.
Feeling really defeated and upset. Think I'm just drained with it all.

Lolly I'm so sorry to hear that. It's such a disappointment after putting yourself through the cycle.

The doctors will come up with a plan for a successful FET.
Fingers crossed for lots of healthy blastocyst. Just take care of yourself today- you are allowed to be sad. Flowers

Lolly2803 · 01/08/2016 13:35

Thanks drinkyourmilk. I'm feeling super sad today. Do you know anything about an FET and what the cycle involves and timings. I had short protocol for IVF no down reg. I also have regular cycles.
I am going to have a hysteroscopy in the cycle before so they can se what was/is causing fluid and dodgy lining. Still waiting to hear about the embryos.

drinkyourmilk · 01/08/2016 13:57

I haven't done a fet yet. From what I understand it's far less invasive. Just pills and pessaries. I think it's quicker too.

Lolly2803 · 01/08/2016 17:40

So of the 8 all are still going but they are freezing 3 blastocysts today and apparently they are really good. The others they either not quiet there yet or quality not good enough to freeze yet so they giving them till tomorrow and will decide if they can freeze any more then.

No more meds for me! Hoping once my body/cycle goes back to normal we can work on lining after my hysteroscopy. Soon as I get my bleed need to go back to the clinic to make the plan. Feeling ok. Thanks for all your support.

tigerdog · 01/08/2016 19:22

Ah, sorry you didn't get to transfer but yay for the blastocysts. A FET protocol can vary - I'm doing a medicated protocol with downregging and then oestrogen and progesterone though I would prefer to do a natural one.

FETs tend to have higher success rates too, so fingers crossed for you.

Lolly2803 · 01/08/2016 19:37

Tigerdog have you had lining issues? I'm not sure id do the down reg part. I didn't with my IVF cycle. They did give me the tablets and patches and in 3 days it increased 0.3mm! I am hoping once my body has a chance to recover and we do the hysteroscopy we will get to a place where the lining can be good enough to go to ET. Lots more waiting to do! Hope your FT goes well, make sure you keep us posted!!

tigerdog · 01/08/2016 19:48

No, no lining issues. I didn't make great embryos on my first cycle, alhough one did implant and I managed a whole week of being pregnant. Second cycle, I made 4 top quality blastocysts and had two put back but only made it part way through the two week wait before bleeding. Next two are in the pipeline for transfer and I have a scratch booked for next Tuesday to get the ball rolling. I'm completely unexplained. Sad

Lolly2803 · 01/08/2016 20:15

Third time lucky tigerdog!!! Keen positive. Are you having acupuncture? xxx

Lolly2803 · 02/08/2016 11:52

Just heard we have 2 more blastocysts ready to freeze today! So that's 5 Day 5/6 blastocysts frozen from my first cycle. I'm so happy!! Especially given what an epic cycle it's been with so much bad news. Now to have a break before hysteroscopy and operation "get lining thick and luscious" begins!! xx

drinkyourmilk · 02/08/2016 13:51

That's a good number of frozen embies Lolly. Well done you!
Glad you are feeling a bit better. I've everything crossed that the next cycle will be the one.

Lolly2803 · 02/08/2016 14:08

I'm so pleased!!! I am just hoping they can fix my lining issues. Got to wait for a proper period after this bleed before can start again so have a few weeks to prepare myself before get going again. I so hope it works and we can get to FET soon! How are things going with you?

Lolly2803 · 10/08/2016 15:09

Hey Ladies,
How are you all getting on? I am going in for a scan today to check I am OK and to plan how we move forward treatment wise. I also got my embryo report today but I don't understand it so hoping you ladies can help.
5 embryos frozen:
3 x Day 5 (4 AA; 4 AB; 3 BB)
2 x Day 6 (5 AB; 4BC)

Is this good? They were good enough to freeze so assuming they are good but not sure what the grading actually means!

xxx
