Hi all
We have mfi so have been under Ramsay. I've been putting off a referral for fertility from go due to loosing weight but Ramsay recommend we get it in asap so gp referred and now the appointment has come through for a months time- super quick.

The appointment is in gynae so should I go alone or with DH? My bmi is too high to start ivf so what are they likely to do?

Can I ask what your bmi is please mrsdarcy, mine was 34 when starting if privately - and my consultant was happy with that. NHS is obviously far lower

We know we are going go go private as my bmi is now 35 and the private clinic is happy with that but we're hoping to have all
My scans done in the nhs system to save money. I just don't know if nhs will do the scans with my bmi at 35 or will they insist on waiting till my bmi is the desired 29.

I see, I can't help with that I'm afraid. Have you checked the clinic are happy for you to have the scans done elsewhere? My initial bloods were done on NHS, but all scans and semen analysis had to be done at my clinic. Would have been much better to do them at my local hospital as we had to travel 2hours each way for the clinic!

Can anyone tell me what Happens at the first appointment please?

Not sure if it is really the same thing but we had our first appointment with the fertility nurse a few days ago. Have you had any scans or anything done? We had to have our tests first but I know some places do it while you are there. They may take bloods and do a pelvic ultrasound if that hasn't been done. If it has I imagine they would talk about your options

i had a internal uss a year ago, organised my gp and i had the 21 day blood at gp and that was it as mfi was found so my DH was referred to a specialist but that person doesn't do fertility treatment so i went to gp to ask what we do and they referred us/me to the local hospital for fertility treatment . the appointment has come through for me at gynae.

the private clinic we've picked out for treatment luckily does accept scans and bloods you've had on the nhs so were really hoping to get it all done at the local hospital.
