Posting for a friend so please forgive me if I sound like I don't know what I am talking about!

My friend had her second (frozen) transfer 10 days ago. Was told to test today and got a BFN. Shes understandably crushed. But she isn't bleeding. She's still taking estrogen and progesterone (suppositories).

Is it definitely over for her this cycle or is there a chance she could be pregnant? She's been trying to phone her clinic all day but the phones are done. Would really appreciate your thoughts.

The clinics tend to ask you to test when they're of an accurate result, although 10 days post transfer is pretty early - do you know if they were blastocysts? I don't know if it's different with FET but you can basically test earlier on fresh cycles with blasts. So if they were day 2 or 3 embryos, that might mean it would possibly be on the early side for an accurate result? But then AFAIK it's rare for clinics to freeze anything but good quality blasts, so it could be false hope. Unfortunately being on progesterone would mean that she might not bleed anyway - it can take a while sadly. I wish her all the best and really hope she gets through to the clinic

Past experiences have told me that 10 days is a little too early to test.

Has the clinic not mentioned a blood test should be done to confirm either way?

Is it NHS? They usually don't do blood tests I don't think. I'd say there's a small chance it's too early - suggest she tries a FRER or Superdrug first thing tomorrow morning. I just checked and I tested 10 days after transfer (blasts) but it was a blood test. However, AFAIK that reading (395) would definitely, definitely have shown up on a HPT, but worth saying at that stage it was twins, so level was pretty high. Have fingers crossed for her

Clinic have told her to stop meds. What should I tell her?

If the clinic have told her to stop the meds then they must be pretty certain it's a negative. I'm so sorry OP. Honestly I think the chances are slim but if the embryo implanted late, then I guess there is still a chance? But I think maybe this time it's not worked sadly. I've been there and it's shit. You sound like you're being an amazing friend. Is this her 1st cycle? Can I ask how old she is?

This is her 2nd cycle. First cycle was fresh. It's her DP (low sperm count) that's the issue. Nothing has come up for her.
She is 33.
She apparently gets 4 "gos". 2 fresh and 2 frozen.
Don't know what to say to her really.

Sorry OP, yep meant 1st cycle but the FET bit (if that makes sense). If things haven't worked this time (and sadly I don't think they will have done), she has age on her side and it's a very good sign she got to freeze from the 1st fresh cycle. She probably wouldn't want to hear that right now though. There's really not much you can say TBH I don't think. A failed cycle is almost like a grieving process IMO, it takes time to process it. And it's a big blow and hard to pick yourself up from and thinking about next steps at this stage is probably too much for her to cope with. Just be there for her, she might want to talk, she might not. Don't be afraid of tears. She's lucky to have such a caring friend
