Clomid worries

Hi, I'm new to this so forgive me for not using all the acronyms.
So after 3 years of trying for a baby I'm about to start my first cycle of Clomid. My doctor tells me "lots of babies are born using clomid" but after 3 years of trying I still can't believe this is ever going to happen.
All my friends have at least 1 child and, although I have told my best friend about our journey, I don't feel comfortable openly discussing my infertility. Would anyone mind sharing their experience of Clomid? I feel very alone with this although husband is fantastic he's not experiencing the same emotional roller coaster I do each month. Thank you.

Spanielcrackers, a lot of people have told me similar stories to yours. I'm also hoping that now I've conceived once I will find it easier to conceive again in future. I think I'm young enough to go on and have a second child.

Mrsunsure It was only my first attempt today, and I found it hard! But then, I can't run. Haven't tried to run for years. So it was hard, but I'm back on it tomorrow so hopefully it gets easier quite quickly.

Thanks Sophie, I hope I get prescribed it too. I've been ttc since last January and I have had such long, irregular cycles. It's like my body hasn't adjusted since coming off the pill. I feel a lot more relaxed now we are now under the fertility clinic, I am optimistic that it will happen. The first year was so difficult because I was so impatient and I wanted it to happen right away.

I have pcos too, I tried 3 different doses of clomid and it did absolutely nothing.

Moved on to ivf which I'm in the middle of.

Hi Snappy, I'm 34 with pcos. We are in year 4, ttc our first. I'm currently on cycle 4 of 100 clomid. Hoping clomid will do the trick for us but I am losing hope with every cycle that passes. I've felt quite rough this cycle around ovulation so I hope that means a big juicy egg was popped out.

We decided that we won't be bothering with any kind of birth control again whether we get lucky on the clomid or not. I will re-asses that should I end up with more than one child but right now it seems unlikely!

Well I had an appointment this morning and they have increased my clomid to 100mg cd2-6. 1500mg metformin a day and advised to take folic acid daily. Really hope this works for us now. Got to have blood works done on cd21 also

I'm waiting to start round 4 of Clomid at the highest dose of 150mg. I've also had a round of Metformin which is meant to help too. Fingers crossed it works for you OP.

My prayers are with you and all fingers are crossed. Are you taking metformin this round also? If so how much mg are you taking daily?

Report

YouBoggleMyMind · 31/03/2016 11:50

I was meant to be taking 1500mg a day but i've dropped it to 500mg as i'm going to run out before I start Clomid again otherwise. Figured it was best to have at least some in my system rather than none at all! I'll get another prescription when I go back in May to see what my follicles have been up to!

GL to you and your follies! I'm in the waiting game for AF to arrive before I can take my clomid. Heard lots of good things about both metformin and clomid together so fingers crossed for us both X

I tried for 2 and a half years and was prescribed clomid. I became pregnant on the second round. My daughter is 5 now and we will be going through it all again soon. There was no reason for our infertility. All was fine just never became pregnant.

I am in the same boat as you - I have been ttc for over 2 years now. It took me forever to get an appointment with my gyno (waiting list was 6 months + on the NHS)!

I took metformin while I waited and it gave me such bad side effects that I only took it for 3 months.

Finally I met with my gyno and did the recent tests (tubes, ultrasounds etc you name it) .. all tests came back fine.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS and the gyno thinks I don't ovulate on my own. They initially prescribed me 50mg Clomid which I didn't ovulate on. So this cycle they increased my dosage to 100mg. Currently on day 11 on my cycle. Hoping for my positive news soon!

@Sophie3001 I have to induce my periods too each month and it's so annoying that my cycles are crazy!
