What else can I do?

Unexplained secondary infertility. 3yrs ttc #2. 2 failed ivf rounds. We have only enough money left for one last go at ivf.

I obviously want to throw everything at our last chance, but what should I be asking our doc? I have had all the basic NHS tests (bloods, ultrasound scan, tubes and dh sperm) which have all come back ok.

What more can I do/any further tests I should ask for? I'm a healthy weight, not in a particularly stressful job, have cut caffeine and alcohol down to a bare minimum and exercise 3 times a week.

I stopped using the ovulation sticks when I found I started obsessing about them (which in turn started stressing me out).

Any words of wisdom or top tips?

We've been trying for almost 4 years, but i cant imagine what it would be like to have had two failed ivf cycles.

What have you learnt so far from those two tries at ivf and all the investigations.

I would recommend reading the essential fertility guide by professor robert winston, it's not too long but suggests things you may not have been tested for

Did you have a thyroid/ vit d check as part of your tests?

Cannot point to the science here but worked for me - acupuncture with potent nasty herbal teas.

Found our GP to be not just unhelpful but frankly soul destroying.

There's a book called 'it starts with the egg' which outlines all the things you can do to maximise the chances of creating healthy fertile eggs in the run up

I often think 'what more can I do' too. 3 years ttc#2 here, unexplained. We haven't had IVF yet, still saving up.
It's utter shit.
I've a loft, garage and spare room full of baby kit that I can't bring myself to throw out. DD is nearly 6.

Can't see that buying a book will help sperm meet egg but have tried all else so might have a read.

Another advocate of the teas and acupuncture. No idea why it worked but it worked.

Ordered 'it starts with an egg book' and just started reading it. It initially looks really interesting, I wish I had heard about it earlier (I'm more of a practical type so I like all the science backing up her claims). I hope there are some changes I can make as a result. Will look at the other book recommendation once I have got through this one.

Leccy, I feel your pain! I'm now refusing to put any more stuff in the attic which is overflowing with baby stuff on the basis that even if it does work, I'm not sure how well the clothes will have faired being stuck in the attic for 5+ years. I'm not ready to clear out the attic yet, but have started to sell a few more recent items

I'm 2 blighted ovums and 3 chemical pregnancies in to ttc #2 with no luck. I feel your pain. It's utter rubbish. What funky teas did you try? Looking into acupuncture, anything is worth a try isn't it?!

After several failed IVF attempts and thinking that adoption was all that was left, my friend tried Co-Enzyme Q10 in medical doses, and is now successfully pregnant. She's a medical professional and researched it to the nth degree before she tried it. In her case the problem had been with her eggs.

Thanks Anothercider. Do you know what dose your friend took? I have found the supplements in the supermarket but it comes in a 100mg dose - just wondering how many to take/day.
