Egg Donor IVF abroad

I'm looking to see if anyone has had any success with egg donor IVF abroad. I am 42 and within the last 18months I have had 3 miscarriages. Due to my age my Dh and I have decided to try IVF. We are heading to Prague for our initial appointment with the transfer hopefully happening in December. We have agreed before we start that we will try three times, if no success that will be the end of our baby journey.

I'm 46 and halfway through my donor egg IVF pregnancy. We went to Quiron Barcelona for our treatment, they were brilliant. They found our donor in 4 weeks.
We were prepared to try 3or4 times but amazingly it worked first time for us. We have 1 more grade A embryo still there, which they will keep for us up to 2 years. So if this one goes well we may go back?.

Hello MrsH. I have secondary infertility. I'd spent a year trying own egg IVF, I was 41 and my ds was 6 1/2. I was told that I could go on the waiting list in the UK, but it was at least a year and potentially 18 months at my clinic. I felt I was too old, and the gap between DCs would be too great to wait that long. I could do donor egg IVF straight away in a Czech clinic.

As another factor, the laws overseas and the laws here on who can be a donor, are different. In the UK, donors must be under 35 and must either have completed their family or be donating eggs as part of their own fertility treatment (i.e. egg sharing). This contributes to the long waiting lists: these days fewer people have completed their families by 35 and many people who would love to share eggs in order to reduce the price of their own fertility treatment, don't find out that they need treatment until they are over 35.

Thank you purplemeggie. I didn't realise it was such a long wait for donor eggs. It's helped me feel more sure about being a donor. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

The clinic we went to here in London said there's a waiting list of between 1-2 years for a donor. Where as Quiron Barcelona the wait would only be a month or two.
Apparently as the law here states at 18 the child can find the genetic donor and that's put a lot of donors off. In Barcelona it's totally anonymous.

Hi Ladies I am so sorry I haven't responded but I didn't get any notification that anyone had replied. We are going to Praga Medica GEST clinic. Our first appointment is 16th November with the transfer hopefully happening in December. I have decided to go abroad due to costs and also the donor information will not be available for our child(fingers crossed) to trace when they turn 18.

I'm at the end of my nhs possibilities and have really got to think about private but we are both full time students (I'm 42..he's 43) and I'm disabled. Nhs hasn't made this easy! We have a 22 month old from an egg donor pregnancy via IVI Alicante. They were linked with our UK clinic so we had everything but my husband's supermarket collection and the embryo transfers in the UK. No waiting list at all and we had a choice of donors xx

We've just met with a dr there and been quoted around €4000 for the "Optimum" donor egg ivf program, at Gest. They guarantee 5 eggs and 2 high quality embryos. My meds were less than £50. Am really impressed so far and will be cycling in June.

My partner and I are considering IVF with donor eggs / donor embryos abroad. We have just start researching options and would like your feedback. Is there a clinic you recommend? What factored into your decision? Was the treatment a success? And, how was your experience with the clinic(s) you chose?
