Freaking out about injections tomorrow. Thinking of backing out!!!

I'm starting my mediation tomorrow for IVF and I am FREAKING OUT about injecting myself, to the point where I am thinking of backing out.
Someone suggested a numbing cream, but it needs to be on for 1 hr and wrapped up. I tried it earlier and this made me feel faint cos it made me think about the injection the whole time. So it is not helping or making it easier. Sad as with any phobia, it's the thought rather than the actual thing that causes more distress.
Argh!!! I know it will easier after the first time, but that first time!!
Sorry, can't talk to anyone about it where I am at the moment and need to vent

Can you try the outer thigh? I had a good fat past there and so preferred it to the stomach. It does get easier, honestly. I think that so much is invested in the jabs, they take on a huge significance which doesn't help if you hate needles.
Keep at it. My IVF (cycle 4) DD2 was born on Wednesday; definitely worth the pain Smile.
Very best of luck.

Well done Daisyboo!.

Horrible though it undoubtedly is, you will get through this. I was a nervous wreck, rather as you've described. But it got easier everyday for me. It's a means to an end and you've already conquered your fears.

Thanks all!
I am trying to think of the bigger picture here and am hoping it gets easier.
I do feel like such a wuss, taking into account some of your brave journeys, and here is me weeping over a needle and sore stomach!

Resipsa! Congrats!!!! Flowers

Well done for doing it! I'm in a similar position - I'm starting mine on 19th August (first cycle). I hope I can be as brave as you.

Pipbin · 02/08/2015 21:29

Just think Daisy, if it works then you'll have to squeeze an entire person out of your fanjo which will make an injection seem like nothing.

Daisyboo1203 · 03/08/2015 10:14

Haha! Pinbin! Yep, but I think I would prefer that to injections!!
The second one did not come up as bad as the first, but still painful, all the muscle below the belly button .
I'm sill lying in bed coz its painful to move!! This doesn't seem right.
I get to Cyprus on Sunday so can't ask the clinic for another week.
I have emailed them about painkiller ideas

Now getting muscle and joint pain, as well as struggling to walk and sitting up. This is fucking shit!!!
How am I going to find 2 places to inject on Thursday when I have massive painful welts everywhere!!!

No worries Pocket!

Daisy - how're things today? The side effects which you describe seem quite extreme. Hope all OK.

Daisyboo1203 · 05/08/2015 20:52

Last night I was sweating and shivering and I even had a fever dream that was telling me my fever was breaking. I felt much better today. I am hoping it was just a random sickness, not related to the medication. Not so achy today.
Yesterday's injections was the least 'red welty' yet! Grin
I have been doing it as slow as I can and keeping ice on it for half an hour after.
Tomorrow I have to start with a second injection!! 2 a day!! Confused
Hoping I have space!!
Still taking it a day at a time, not thinking ahead or I get panicky....but this time next week this medication will be over!!! Yay!

Keep going!

Daisyboo1203 · 10/08/2015 21:25

Last shots before egg collections done!!!Grin
As they wanted me to do trigger shot tonight and my last injections were in my case somewhere at the airport, they did the injections there. The nurse asked why I kept
Injections into same site, I had to explain I didn't, that was how big each individual one comes up. Very happy that part is over. The trigger injection was easier as it was a very thin needle. I even caught myself saying 'that's a lovely one!' Haha.
Egg collection on Wednesday! Exciting and scary!!!
Tomorrow a drug free day! Going to relax at the pool!

Hoping for the best for you now CakeSmile

Daisyboo1203 · 18/08/2015 09:16

Just thought I'd update. Had EC and ET, now in the 2WW (under a big umbrella on the beach in Cyprus!).
The injections in on now (Fraxiparine) don't give me the same massive red welts, so much easier to bear!
Thanks for all the supportGrin

Daisyboo1203 · 26/08/2015 03:26

Thanks, Pocket.
I am back at home and am scheduled for my hCG blood test tomorrow.
I am not feeling very optimistic Sad
I am preparing for a negative test, and thinking about trying again next holiday in December.
