Referral to a different hospital trust

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone will know the answer to this, but DH and I have our first referral appointment in 2 weeks but it is at a different hospital, and therefore in a different hospital trust, to our GP and where we have already had some tests done.

So what I'm wondering is will the hospital accept the test results if they were carried out elsewhere? Both are Nhs but just different trusts. Do they get funny about this??

We've had 2 lots of SA tests done plus bloods and a scan for me. We have copies of the results but we have chosen to be referred to a hospital which is more practical for our work.

I'm just worried that we'll have to start from scratch again!

Just saw your thread and didn't want it to go unanswered.

Why don't you give the hospital a call and ask them if they would be willing to accept the results? They may do considering that the NHS are cutting back or they may want to conduct their own set of tests. Either way it's worth asking. Good luck

just saw your post and thought I'd reply as we're in the same situation. we asked to be referred to a specific hospital based on a recommendation and its in a different trust to our GP surgery. The GP was a bit funny about doing it but in the end it has all been ok.
We had to chase up the GP to get the SA sent to the right place and they always comment on why we are using that hospital and how it's not what they normally do. But ultimately, provided the test results end up in the right place u should be fine and you shouldn't have to start from scratch. good luck!

I think that if you have copies of results that will be ok. It certainly was when we took NHS test results to private clinic ( and they could have made more money by making us do them again). You may find they run some tests already done again though, but not because not accept first results. Fr eg I had blood tests done 3 x to see if I ovulated, or a pattern emerged. Dh had SA done 3 times during testing due to results etc.

Hello, we are in the same situation. Our GP referred us to a hospital in a different trust for ivf as our local hospital doesn't have an ivf clinic. We had some work up tests done at our local hospital when our infertility was first being investigated, the consultant only had the results from my hsg at our first ivf appointment - not our SA or any blood work. I'm sure we could have arranged for the other results to be sent over but we're now having repeats of those as the results are from a while ago and out of date. We did not have copies of our previous results but it can't hurt to take them with you if you do. We have our first appointment after our recent set of tests next week.
Best of luck!

If you have got copies, I'm sure it will be fine - they can look at those for he moment and order their own tests as well if they want (for all you know, the same lab may do the work anyway). I worried about this when we had some private tests done - but the reaction of the consultant was more or less 'wahey, the NHS doesn't let me order all these'!

Many thanks for your replies ladies, this is really helpful and reassuring. Smile
It's an anxious time as it is, without me worrying over things like this. So fingers crossed.
Best of luck to you other ladies as well xx
