Anyone who can tell me what these LH and FSH mean?

Hi there,

following removal of an ovary and tube due to ovarian cancer I recently had an LH and FSH test as my periods are all over the place.

LH was 5.3
FSH was 9.1

I know before the operations the numbers were much lower than this, can anyone tell me what the average is - I am 34 years old. Thanks.

LH = Luteinizing hormone
FSH = Follicle Stimulating Hormone

"FSH and LH are produced by the brain in order to control the production and release of sex hormones including testosterone and estrogen. FSH and LH regulate the development, growth and reproductive processes of the body.

In aging men and women, a rise in FSH and LH indicates the onset of menopause and/or andropause. In women that are still menstruating, low levels of FSH and LH may indicate excessive estrogen and may lead to estrogen dominance. In this hormonal state there is an increased risk for disorder such as polycystic ovarian disease and fibrocystic breast disease."
