Go won't prescribe metformin or clomid- have to go through referral

Is this the norm?
It's been over 6 months since I first went to my go for blood tests due to no AF.
I will be waiting a lot longer if have to wait for referral to fertility clinic.

Are there other options? I'm not getting any younger!

I had Clomid from a consultant prior to IVF. Trying for a sibling now. GP was happy to prescribe me both Clomid and Metformin, only one month so far. Only monitoring was / is day 21 blood tests. Even thw consultant couldn't offer the NICE-recommended scans.

I'm on Clomid this month, and metformin. Both prescribed by my GP with only day 21 bloods as monitoring.
