Ttc, I've had half my tests and awaiting other half, DH has done his test and the results are REALLY bad- less than 1 million in the sample but it was only 0.5ml and he still had 50% motility and 48% forward progression. Spoke to the specialist nurse who said this is really unusual to have low count but high motility and it may be just a one off bad sample due to 'circumstances on the day' (!) and re test. Has anyone else had this? Really hoping it's a false result as if not it's really bad

How many days had he abstained for? They say not to ejaculate for three days before the sample is given. That's a reason to give a small sample. Or of course the pot could have leaked. Anything is possible! A re-test is common and they often won't start any fertility treatment until he's been tested twice. Even I was tested two months in a row for my blood tests. Try not to worry. My husband's tests were quite different from each other. Just get the next test ASAP. Very best of luck xxx

Thank you :) 48hrs abstinence pre test, the specialist said stress or interruption can cause a small sample which can then give a false result. Really hope that's what it is! :(

On the plus side, the only reason that isn't good is the volume and therefore the number of sperm. I reckon that just means you need to have more sex Smile xxx

Ime mrsmick, the samples take about three months to improve.
He needs to take a massive and well over the rda amount of multi mineral and vitamin supplementation and a total detox from any alcohol and nicotine.Try Solgar.

If he works in an industrial environment he should be tested for heavy metal contaminations also.

Fwiw, my DH's samples were so bad we were refused all assisted repro tech, as it would be a waste of time. But we still managed to conceive naturally after a long (3 year) program of detox and optimum nutrition plus supplementation for him, and I also followed the program to keep him company, and did a lot of yoga too, but had no problems with my work ups and hormone levels.

Good luck.

Hi, he started vits a while ago but will be changing them tiday so hopefully that will help. He's a non smoker and drinker which is. Kind of a shame because if he wasn't we could have put it down to that! I understand the 3 month cycle thing but he is classed as severe so needs to re rest in 6 weeks. Thanks for your replies :)
