What to expect at first hospital appointment

I have received confirmation of our first hospital appointment in a couple of weeks but was wondering what happens at the appointment and te following stages after that? The letter says it will be a chat about medical history but wondered if any tests would be done there and then? I have already had 21day blood test which came back ok and my OH had a good sperm test result according to our gp. Is it more blood tests next or scans or mediation? Thanks

At ours there were no tests. We had to both fill in medical forms, welfare of the child forms and crb consent forms. We then met our consultant, who ran through detailed medical history and asked quite in depth questions about our sexual history, any relevant medical issue and history, and hereditary problems/reproductive problems within immediate family. We were then given a preliminary diagnosis based on our previous tests, and what she thought the problem was, plus a briefing on the plan for treatment. The final part was to discuss any outstanding testing she wanted done for us, which has all been done now, but this would depend on what tests you'd already had and what the consultant felt you still needed to have. The outstanding tests weren't done on the day, we were sent off with forms to fill in and either book in appointments with our doctor or at the hospital.

I had two scans ordered: an HSG to check the tubes and transvaginal scan to check womb and ovaries. Now they have been done I'm getting clomid. Good luck.

Ours was just a chat, although they weighed and measured me (because I'm at the low end of normal I think) to do my bmi.
As our bloods as SA were normal he told us to try for another 4 months and come back for an ultrasound after that and another discussion after that. Good luck, X

Thanks all for replies, has set my mind at ease a bit but interesting to see different approaches in each case. Just want to see some progress being made as we've been trying now for nearly 18mths with a miscarriage in that time. Fingers crossed we are on the right path now!
