IVF: How many follicles?

Hello,

I'm six days in to stims, and I had my first scan this morning. The sonographer said I had seven good sized follicles - the largest of which was 16mm - and three smaller, less mature ones.

I have to admit to feeling a little disappointed as I thought there would be more.

Can anyone who's been through this already tell me if I can expect to get more follicles to grow between now and egg collection (a week today), or if I should expect to get around 10 or fewer eggs?

I know it's all a bit hit and miss, but my AMH is 17.5 and my follicle count was 18 when I was getting scanned as part of checks for egg reserve. I'd sort of assumed that I'd get more than 18 follicles whilst taking IVF drugs.

Does anyone have any experience of ending up with more eggs come EC than they did at their first scan?

Amazing blue! You must be thrilled! My clinic just called and all nine of ours have fertilised too. Am so pleased (and a bit emotional if I'm honest - how embarrassing!).

Now also willing some on to 5 day blasts.

I have my first intramuscular progesterone injection this evening. I am Not Happy. Also injecting the first of many very stingy clexane this afternoon too. Boo. Feel as though I got off easy during stims.

Just updating in case helpful for anyone looking for info in the future.

We still have all nine embryos, seven of which are on their way to 5 day blasts. Two are straggling, but might catch up. I have ET tomorrow.

I am so very nervous Confused This is going to be the mother of all two week waits...

Hi Tootsie - good luck for tomorrow! I had 2 x blastocysts transferred this morning so I'm really pleased. I'll get a call tomorrow (day 6) to see if any of the others are suitable for freezing, apparently 4 are still looking good. Hopefully you'll have good news tomorrow too.

Good luck for today :)

Two blasts on board!

One good quality, the other slightly less so. Transfer was difficult - doctor nearly called it quits and was talking about freezing and going back tomorrow to have it done under sedation. I gave my cervix a stern talking to (in my head rather than out loud Grin ) and the catheter went in on the last attempt.

Embryologists are keeping an eye on remaining seven embryos (although they've already said two of them are looking a bit ropey) and fingers crossed for some frosties.

Now tucked up in a v swanky hotel in central London close to our clinic relaxing and planning what I'm going to order from room service :)

Yay. Good luck :)

Well done Tootsie! Now the dreaded 2ww begins. Wish I could knock myself out and wake up on the 15th to do my pregnancy test, I HATE waiting.

Hopefully you'll also get a frostie or two?

Tootsiepops · 08/03/2015 16:51

We got four frosties. Really pleased with that.

Yeah - this waiting is no good, is it? Yesterday I had lots of twinges and pulling feelings in my uterus...today not a thing. Obviously this automatically means it's not worked and is all over and everything is utterly pointless. I'm going to be INSANE by otd.
