Crinone gel - how do you know ??!?

This is my 4th cycle (with one success 3.5 DS), and I'm still not confident I'm doing the crinnone right ?!? What does everyone do? I give it a good shake to make sure the gel is as far down as I can, then I either insert like a tampon and squeeze or sometimes lay on the floor and do it but even though I check the tube as best I can to see it's empty I'm never convinced. Our last cycle I came on so early even the clinic were really surprised so I'm stressing myself it's how I'm doing the gel ?!? Confused

Hmmm... That's how I've been doing it, too. I think the volume of air in the big square box at the end is enough to empty the nozzle. You could always give it another squeeze when you've withdrawn to check it's properly empty. I've done that a couple of times out of paranoia and it's been properly empty. It is so hard to tell, though! Couldn't they make them transparent?

Will your clinic do a blood test for you? To check your progesterone levels?

I've got ET tomorrow morning assuming our 5 embryos (or at least 2 fingers crossed) made it so I'll ask then. Obv we have our DS so I guess I am doing it ok but I'd almost prefer an injection or something, at least then it's all gone Smile Thank you

Hello ladies,

I was using Crinone Gel on my FET cycle I'm currently 2dpt5dt and two days before ET I had a scan and a blood test at my clinic and even though my scan came back fine my blood test showed my progestrone levels weren't as high as they should be, try were 27 and they should be above 30 they said I wasn't absorbing the gel. Due to that they started me on 6 a day 400mg of cyclogest pessaries.

Hopefully your clinic can give you a blood test to confirm levels.

Mini - Good Luck with ET tomorrow.

My clinic told me to walk round for 15-20 minutes after using the gel to help it absorb so I always take the dog out afterwards - far less clumping!!

That's interesting Verkey that you actually get up and walk after. Logic told me I should like down so gravity doesn't make it drip out, but if you are getting far less clumping then obviously your clinic is right. Will remember that for my next IVF attempt in March. Thanks.

Hello ladies. 3 survived so we had 2 put in, they aren't sure if the 3rd will continue to grow but if it does they'll freeze it and call us Monday. I told them I was worried I wasn't absorbing the crinone so they've given me an intravascular injection instead. Huge fat needle that DH has to put Into my bum but needs must ??

I was also told to walk around for 15-20 minutes after inserting crinone. I was always worried it wasn't absorbing properly (needlessly, as it worked ok).

Logic would suggest that to me shell but trust me, no dripping!

Well that's two of you that have been told to walk around. Less clumping bits sounds good but the main reason if I want my IVF to work so I'll happily walk after is that helps absorption. I think at this point, I'd roll in cow manure if they told me it would help!

While we're on the subject of crinone... Does anyone else get a hunt of pink? Is this normal? Irritation or spotting? Any thoughts?

Oh Verkey, you must be in panic mode. I have had the Crinone come out as pink as as I'm starting IVF again next cycle, obviously that was my period coming on for me. That's not to say there have been many women on here who have had bleeding and I have felt the worst for them, only for them then to declare a BFP. Keep me posted. Thinking of you.

Verkey, I occassionally had a hint of pink. I also had two fairly big and scary bleeds. It turned I had cervical ectropion (cervical erosion) which is basically a rough spot in the cervix that can sometimes bleed if irritated.

No sign of AF, I'm hoping the pink is side effect rather than anything else! So up and down with what to think!

Well it definitely seemed to early for a period bleed, and if you've not since gotten your period, logic would suggest it's implantation bleed. Oh, the insanity of the 2ww! When is your official test date? Do you have to go for a blood test or do they just tell you to test at home?

Test day this Friday shell but that's a poas at home, no blood test :( hoping it was either irritation or implantation... Time will tell!

So it was definitely that little embryo burying in then that caused the bleeding! I hope I will be joining you on your side of the moon when I endure IVF again next month.
