Acupuncture. Try it!

I really wanted to share with you how fantastic acupuncture is. I came off the pill a year ago. GP sent me for scans and blood tests, diagnosed me with pcos. Suggested clomid but I wanted to try all other options first. So tried acupuncture. After having 60/90/100 day cycles within a few weeks of seeing him I had my first proper 35 day cycle and I ovualed. I'm now on cycle two and ovulating again (day 23) I would highly recommend trying acupuncture. The chap I saw is called Steve Brown and he's based in Amersham In Bucks. He's so sweet and specialises in fertility. Good luck to everyone. Xx

I too am having acupuncture for fertility emma85x after being diagnosed with damaged tubes via laparoscopy I'm November. Would be very interested in hearing others experiences of this and wether it's worked for them

I'm sorry to hear about your laparoscopy. I've been having acupuncture for about 3/4 sessions and can't recommend it enough. It works miracles! As well as myself I've read lots of positive reports after acupuncture. Definitely give it a go. Go on recommendations though. Let me know how it goes! Good luck!

I went to a specialist fertility place. It was OK, I liked how much detail she took from me, that made me feel like she was considering lots of aspects of infertility (rather than just the doctor's purely medical approach). The treatment itself is ok, it's not particularly relaxing or enjoyable like a massage but was quite painless.

Afterwards I actually challenged the therapist I saw on a few matters which I thought were not very professional and never went back to see her again.

I have had reflexology recommended to me and I think that is meant to be more relaxing/de-stressing so I might give that a go.

In the end good old traditional medicine diagnosed us with severe male factor infertility so no amount of holistic therapy would change that!

I'm currently having weekly acupuncture and although I haven't got pregnant yet I do find it helpful both physically and mentally. In a practical sense I've gone from 24-25 day cycles and a short luteal phase to 28 days bang on since starting it and have very strong signs of ovulation as well which I never used to. I had a month off over Xmas and went back to 24 days so it's clearly doing something. (Or at least is having a strong placebo effect!) It also helps a bit with period pain I find.

Agree it isn't necessarily relaxing - sometimes I can feel the pins twanging or pulling but actually I find that somewhat reassuring in that it's doing something!

It's also good to talk things through with someone IRL - my acupuncturist also specialises in fertility and had her own problems TTC so is very clued up and sympathetic.
We also have some male factor problems but my sense is that it can't hurt to also get me in peak fertile condition! Frankly, after 15 months TTC it feels good to be doing something that feels constructive.

H, I've just started my first session of fertility acupuncture today to help support my IVF - I'll let ou know the outcomes but I felt very relaxed afterwards as my session ended with a half hour massage as well!

Acupuncture shouldn't necessarily be relaxing, I feel every one but I feel amazing afterwards and it works! His wife does reflexology so she does that whilst the needles are in which is lovely! The two therapies complement each other brilliantly! Stick with acupuncture
