I was on the mirena and breastfeeding for two years and had no cycle. I had the mirena taken out and and had a period about 5 weeks later. Stopped breastfeeding and had another period 28 days later. But now i have not had a a period for almost 3 months! Pregnancy test negative. I phoned the doctors and was told to come in for a blood pregnancy test. When that was negative (dr secretary said it looks like my body is trying hard to ovulate) I was told to come in for further blood tests , to check hormones etc. I got a call to say it looked fine, and i should come in after the new year if still no period or pregnancy test.

i feel completely in the dark, when not on mirena i have always had extremely regular period. Sad

Pregnancy can cause thyroid problems.

Or maybe high prolactin.
Weight changes after pregnancy?

bracingair · 04/01/2015 17:31

my BMi is 22 so no weight issues. If ds is 2 would that pregnancy have had an effect on prolactin levels now? My thyroid has been checked a while back and is fine too. It feels so odd to have no periods

With thyroid you would need to see the figures as gps say 4.2 is ok but that is not great for conception.

Thank you, i will def ask to see actual figures.

I vary between wanting it to happen right now and being quite relaxed for it to happen when it does. DH definitely not ready for any intervention. At this point i just want to understand (If poss!) what is happening with body. Does it matter to leave things be? It does not feel right, like my body cycle is suspended!

Don't panic I understand not having that period every 28 days like your supposed to does make you feel 'abnormal'...after years on microgynon I came of it beginning of 2014 and did not have a period til July! Like you I was worried, so in october (having still only had that one period) I went drs who gave me a course of pills for 10 days to bring on bleed and I was told to have blood test 21 days later which showed I was not ovulating! I was distraught but told to go back in new year and look at options, however last week I felt different so decided to take a test and it's positive! Early days but exiciting!

Congratulations! how exciting...good to hear such news!

I can't go on pill as i have had migraines with aura so i think the risk of stroke is much higher.
