Advice please AF a week early but not sure what Day 1 is?

Hi Ladies

I really need your help I'm freaking out slightly as its started a lot earlier than usual last 3 months 36,38,36 this month showing signs at 27 days!!

Anyway my question is for those that have had treatment whats considered day 1? When you wipe (TMI) and see something, when you need a panty liner or when you need to start using a sanitary towel? AF can take 3 days to arrive properly sometimes so I don't want to jump the gun by calling the clinic too early.

My clinic always said day 1 was when I needed to start using tampoms. I always had a day of light bleeding before full flow kicked in and they told me not to count it...it caused used to cause me so much confusion every month!

Thanks tight it normally shows then disappears for a few days then arrives fully so it's just good to know what I need to look out for.

If the clinic have a nurses line it won't hurt to ask them but I was always told "....when back up is needed"

First day of red flow. As opposed to brown or red spots.

I also had no concept of what they meant by day 1. I can have a week of spotting, and generally 2 or 3 days of just the yellow tampax, before needing a green or orange one. My fertility doctor told me (and has repeated this on several occasions, as I think she could tell I still felt a bit unsure!) that day 1 is the first day off "full flow". Effectively the first day of heavy bleeding requiring frequent changes of a super/super plus tampon.

I have just gone through two (failed) rounds of IVF and also have to try to explain what I mean by the fact I say I've already started my period before the pregnancy test day - I just mean I know it's failed as I've started the spotting/light flow days. Heavy day (day1) won't happen for a couple more days iykwim.

I'm sure you've got all your answers by now….but just to back up all other posts, it's the first day of your heaviest flow. Some people go bang and start bleeding instantly, other's obviously spot for a few days then fresh blood starts. smidge answer prob best!
