Metformin

I just wondered if anyone else has recently started taking it? And how your coping with side effects?

I have PCOS so have been prescribed metformin with hope of helping me conceive. I'm on day 3 and feel constantly sick. I'm determined to stick with it though

Hi I started a week ago, first few days on 500mg and now 1000mg. Didn't have any side effects at first but last couple of days very sicky and headachy, not much of an appetite but when I do eat it's carbs to try and settle nausea which I'm not sure is ideally. No change with any period like symptoms yet :(

The nausea is just horrible, also have headaches. I'm still only on the 500mg dosage until Monday when I'll go up to 1000mg
I'm going to see how I am over the weekend then think about asking for something to stop the nausea a bit.
I can understand why people lose weight on it because eating is really difficult.
I cant really comment of the period symptoms though because mine are few and far between which what we're hoping the metformin will fix

Never had any of those symptons on met. Only diarrhoea but that was mostly fixed on the slow release version.

Which one are you on?
Im now on 1500 and feel fine.
Could it be your blood sugar as sounds like pregnancy where people say they feel better when they eat.
Could it be making your sugar too low or you ard used to higher levels

I am on metformin since November last year and the first few weeks were awful. It is normal cos your body has to get used to it. I felt constantly sick after meals (and some actually came back out, sorry TMI) and after a month I think it settled and I just felt normal. If it's too bad for you then ask for the slow release version as that's apparently a bit better. Hope it helps! Good luck!

I've been on metformin since I was 16 (I'm now 32) for pcos. In the beginning I had awful cramps and sickness and a horrible metallic taste in my mouth. I then saw a doc who prescribed me the slow release ones and I haven't hardly had any symptoms since x
