First infertility ultrasound - which cycle day?

I have my first ultrasound coming up shortly to start investigating why we can't get pregnant (again - it took 16 cycles and 1 mc for DS and it's been 14 cycles now) Hmm My GP referred me and didn't give a specific day, but then I looked on here and it seems like most people have to do it something like cd2.

Is that right? I don't want to have to do a second scan right away if I end up referred to a specialist, because I haven't got time and am in a system where I have to pay (quite a lot) for each one. But I also don't want to go along in the middle of my period if it's not necessary!

CD2 tends to be when the first lot of blood tests are done; a day 2 test is done to compare your LH level against that of FSH.

They should also be testing your DH now and in tandem with your own investigative tests, its no point solely testing you first only for them to realise some time later that there are actually male factor issues.

Ultrasounds do not have to be done on specific cycle days.

Thank you, that is helpful! I've had the day 2/21 bloods done which came back fine, then my go suggested I get the scan done before choosing a specialist, as if I have fibroids (quite possible, they run in my family a lot and I have v heavy periods) I can choose a specialist who is also a surgeon, otherwise I'm leaning towards one who my friends used, but would need another specialist for surgery... And then once I've chosen the specialist, THEN DH gets tested.

Of course, the other reason for delay is that he is super reluctant, but I figure that this leaves him no choice. Confused This is all a bit exhausting!
