Infertility

How long between rounds?

Hi there
How long do you have to / should you wait following a failed round of IVF to go again?
If your period comes on day 1 can you start down regging again on day 21? What have your consultants said if this has happened to you?
Any advice would be gratefully revived!
M x

I've always had to wait for at least one natural period between rounds of IVF, the clinics I used I had to wait 3 months/periods after a full IVF cycle with ovarian stimulation and one month/period after a FET

In all honesty I don't think I would have been ready to try again straight away anyway either physically or mentally

Thanks for this. Have others had the same advice? It does make sense!

Hi move - I think a lot of it depends on you/your situation. I've had 2 back to back IVF cycles in the last few months. I'm 37 and a poor responder with a low AMH. Quite frankly I haven't got time to wait 3 months between cycles because my egg reserve is dwindling and I'm not getting any younger. Take your hospital's advice - physically/mentally I haven't found it a problem. Everyone is different!

Hi there move

I'm about to start our first round of ICSI next month. We're obviously hoping it'll work first time, but recognise the odds aren't great. Our clinic have told us that we have to wait 3 months before trying again. I understand they advise this for all women under 35, on the basis that they have a bit of time on their side, and that taking time out to recover emotionally can boost your chances second time around. I'm 35 in January, so will see how I feel and whether or not I want to insist on starting again more quickly. But certainly hoping it won't come to that!

Good luck!

Well i think its probably best to wait to let your body recover.
However i had a cancelled cycle aug and im starting again without an extra period but then im on long protocol so will get another period/ itll be months anyway and i didnt have collection/
only had 3 large eggs anyway so not a strain on my body when i have pcos and would have more on a natural cycle.
'So i guess it depends why
Age?
Long or short protocol
Why did the last one fail.
If it was quality/numbers it might be better to wait
