Approximate IVF timeline?

Now I know this would be very hard to be accurate as we all respond differently. After two failed donor IUIs we are moving onto donor IVF looking like starting the the October cycle. I am self employed and think it will be pretty much impossible for me to work while doing treatment so am trying to get an idea of how long I should not work for. My AMH is 5.6 this was October last year so a chance it may have dropped. No other known issues. Clinic haven't said protocol and I find the quite unapproachable, they say just to call when I want to start the process. My next booking finishes the end of October and I could my period would start mid October so there is a possibility I could start the process mid October. It would be helpful if anyone that had IVF could give me a timeline of what you experienced escpecially with down regging, stims and scans. It's all quite confusing for me, hopefully it will work first time but if not we will look into going abroad. Thanks in advance.

Depends on whether they recommend long or short protocol for you. My short protocol was this, I think:

  • birth control pill for the month prior to the ivf cycle starting
  • bleed then baseline scan on day 2 or 3.
  • stim injections - gonal f - for 10 days or so, starting from day 5 with a couple more scans to monitor
  • cetratide injections added in alongside gonal f from about day
9 then continued for about another week
  • trigger shot 48 hrs before egg collection
  • embryo transfer was 5 days
later in our case
  • pregnancy test was 16 days post transfer

HTH

You can find other example
timelines on sites like Dr Malpani and IVF authority I think?

Thats the frustrating thing they haven't said and won't say. I just have to call them when I want to start treatment and I want another month to lower my bmi a bit.

Thanks for your timeline and info where I can find more about it will have a look. I hope to have done the treatment by December.

Is it donor egg or sperm? If its donor egg there's no long/short as such you Down reg until your donor has and then she starts stimms, my first DR injection was 25th May
EC was 16th July
ET 18th July
OTD 04th Aug
I had an issue with my lining or it wouldn't of been so long

Donor sperm, likely move to donor egg if it doesn't work first time.

So I emailed clinic and their timeline they gave was call them day one of period, scan on day three and then 2.5 weeks until egg transfer which seems no where near as long as anyone else that I read. It's a big London clinic however I keep feeling they don't treat as individuals and at this stage I don't want to have to change clinics. Need to book another consultant appt even though I've already had one.

That sounds like short protocol - I've been given a similar timeline for my next cycle (which is the first time I've done short protocol) - it all happens pretty much within the confines of your normal cycle, so you get your period, start stims and they collect the eggs about the time you would normally ovulate, and put them back three or five days later.

Good luck.

Thanks, good to know someone else is doing short as I never read about anyone doing it. Will be booking my consultant appt next week to confirm protocol. Getting so nervous.

Come and join us on our IVF thread if you like....lots of lovely women all going through similar things (not the same, because no two protocols seem to be quite the same!). IVF

The "IVF" in my previous post is a link to the thread - not sure if that's clear!
