I've just messed up and gone for my day 21 progesterone test on day 20. Does anyone know if this will invalidate it and if I'll need to do it again please?

Should not make any real difference to the outcome.

BTW have you had day 2 tests done; that is an important test to have done because that measures and compares your LH level against that of FSH. LH and FSH are two very important hormones as these kickstart the ovulation process, if these are awry then ovulation is affected.

Thanks Attila! I went to the nurse at the surgery and she insisted on taking all the blood when I was there. I knew she was wrong and I tried to argue my point but she just over-ruled me. I find there is often a knowledge gap when it comes to fertility. Us women are so clued up these days because of the internet, we know as much as the healthcare professionals! I just decided to let her do her thang and then ring up and sort out another test for the beginning of my cycle..... xxx

This thread is a little old, but thought I would comment as I've had my Day 3 results back today. My GP has said rather than Day 21 (which is intended to be 7 days before next period for the 'textbook' 28 day cycle), I need to be booking my 'Day 21' progesterone test 7 days before my next period is due, so in my case this would be Day 26 (33-35 day cycle, last one was 33). If I was to get this test done on Day 21, my progesterone levels would clearly not be high enough as Ov would either not yet have occurred, or literally just occurred.

My Day 3 results have been interesting although I'm sure there is cause for concern in the results:

LH - 8
FSH - 9

Raised Prolactin (618) and a possible thyroid (under active) issue.

Other than that the rest came back fine :-/

I am now assuming the worst for the 'Day 21' results.

Hope this helps
x

Hi stqueen, sorry to hear about your concerning results. Have you had your day 21/26 results? My cycle is about 28 days long. My progesterone was under 30 so they said I probably didn't ovulate this month :-(
