norethisterone to induce period - feeling awful!

Has anyone had bad mood swings, irritability, tiredness etc after taking norethisterone to induce a period please? I took 2 x tablets for 5 days and finished the course 5 days ago. No period yet and have been feeling awful as described above. I've never taken norethisterone before so don't know if this is usual. Thanks!

ive had norethisterone quite a few times, i agree it is TERRIBLE. altho, i was told to take 2 tablets a day for 10 days, so had it even longer. i dont envy you at all, i was awful on them, each time. not pleasant at all are they!

i have my period 4-5 days after stopping them.

The only time my period didnt come after having them, i was pregnant with my now 4 year old daughter! (its only progesterone, no damage can be done) give it a few more days, then if still nothing, do a test and ring whoever prescribed it. best of luck. x

I felt murderous when on this medication. All the cliches about women with PMT rolled into one! Horrible stuff (but necessary). Good luck with your treatment.

Period took 6 days to come come when I took this for 1st ivf and ended up having 3 baseline scans as womb was too thick

This time I took the pill an stopped at 17 days and period 4 days later and 1st baseline scan dates and womb lining was fine

Bit tearful and dp said I was hormonal but I don't think I was

Hope AF comes soon and baseline is ok

I have taken this twice to try to induce a period (i have secondary ammenorrhea). Both times were horrible. I felt depressed, irritable and very very down, and my mood swings were crazy. I actually felt sorry for anyone around me. it failed both times, I never got a period, but hopefully you will have more success!

I got a bleed 2 days after stopping was on 4 tablets a day for 8 days

Bessie84 I want to take it as my period is due the day I fly away for a week to get married. I want to Ttc immediately and was worried it wasn't safe to do so. So I have nothing to worry about then?

artylady nothing to worry about no, its only progesterone, does no damage at all. ive taken it a fair few times now. you should (i think) start taking it 4 days before your due your period to get it in your system. ive always had 10 days supplies. then bled 4 days after stopping the tablets and then carried on ttc as normal. the only time i didnt come on after is when when id already concieved my girl, nothing to worry about at all hunny, enjoy your holiday / wedding / just be prepared for the extra emotional state you'll be in......... x
