Scratch before transfer?

Hi

I was just wondering how many days before your embryo transfer was your Scratch?

I'm due to have my embryo transfer tomorrow (excited!) and my Scratch was carried out on the 18th July. It feels too long ago to be of any use now?!

Scratch 8 April, ET 13 May - now 16 weeks pg

Good luck.

Hi Jodie
Mine was the cycle previous to the one in which I had my FET so similar time difference to you- DD now 8.5 months old and sitting in front of me shaking a bell rabidly while semi-watching the Tweenies Grin

Twinklestar2 · 18/08/2014 19:36

Think the scratch is effective for 3 months...

I had one last year, either October or Nov - can't remember - ET was 22 Nov, I'm holding my week old baby boy in my arms now GrinGrin

It worked for me; I hope it works for you x

purplemeggie · 19/08/2014 07:16

The scratch needs to be before the bleed before EC/ET to work. Mine was day 21 in my down-reg cycle. The cycle before, I was scheduled to have the scratch on day 28, but I'd started bleeding, so they wouldn't do one.

Good luck

Thank you everyone.
I'm now 5dpt. Constantly wondering if I am pregnant or not. The 2WW is horrendous!!
This is my 2nd attempt at IVF so I really have got everything crossed.
Thank you again.

purplemeggie · 20/08/2014 08:26

Sending you lots of good wishes - the 2WW is the worst. Take care x

Twinklestar2 · 20/08/2014 11:31

Good luck, please let us know how you get on Smile

justjodie92 · 20/08/2014 13:31

Thank you, I will do.

Should I be 'feeling' pregnant by now?

OP posts:
purplemeggie · 20/08/2014 21:19

Hmmm....is this your first? I didn't feel pregnant with my first pregnancy - not that I recognised, anyway, but I had two subsequent pregnancies (that ended in mc) when I knew well before the bfp. I think some people get really early symptoms and some people don't, and my mother tells me that all pregnancies feel totally different, so try not to fret. I know that's easier said than done! Keeping everything crossed for you.

justjodie92 · 20/08/2014 21:44

Yes it is my first. (Well it would be if it works!)

I'm trying to stay positive, just feels like the longest two weeks ever!

Thank you so much for your message.

I completely understand that sentiment! Don't know how long you've been ttc, but it's 5 years for me. After all that time (and absolutely giving up hope), IVF seems to happen really quickly -there's loads going on, appointments, injections, all sorts - and then after the transfer you go into this limbo. And you wait. Forever. When do you test? Keeping everything crossed for you.

LittlePeasMummy1 · 21/08/2014 22:27

Keep busy during the evil 2ww, and best of luck :)

justjodie92 · 21/08/2014 22:51

I've been trying to conceive for 20 months. Naively thought it wouldn't be hard Hmm how wrong was I?!

I test next Friday. A week to go! I'm beginning to convince myself it hasn't work, but I know I should be keeping positive!

Thank you for your messages Smile

Please let us know how you get on, I'll be thinking of you :)

purplemeggie · 22/08/2014 17:37

Me too. I'm going to be on holiday next Friday, but I'll be thinking hopeful happy thoughts for you, and will check back to see if there's any news. The main thing is to take good care of yourself and let yourself hope. x

Snowie2 · 22/08/2014 20:30

Hi sorry to butt in but what is a scratch ? I conceived my beautiful DCs through ivf 8&6 years ago and considering going again but a lot has changed !

Twinklestar2 · 24/08/2014 12:40

The scratch is where they scratch the lining of your womb and it helps the embryo to attach. Google endometrial scratch Smile

purplemeggie · 31/08/2014 18:31

Hey Jodie - did it work out? Thinking of you...

justjodie92 · 03/09/2014 05:41

Hi purple

It was a BFP!! 5w1d now!
I am still in shock! I can't believe it!

Thank you for remembering me Smile
Just need to try and stop worrying, but I guess that's natural.

Hope you are okay

Congratulations justjodie! :)

I have one child from IVF and will be doing an FET cycle imminently, probably - see my other post!
I didn't have a scratch on my successful, fresh cycle and the clinic hasn't suggested one for the FET either. Are scratches done for a specific purpose or are they just standard in some places now?

justjodie92 · 03/09/2014 18:11

I'd ask for a Scratch.
They recommend them for women for 3 failed ivfs but I asked to have one after one failed cycle.
It doesn't hurt, and really does increase the success rates I believe.
Good luck!

Hooray! Delighted to hear that, Jodie. Congratulations, and all the very best for a peaceful, calm and blissful pregnancy.
