I just got back from Poland after having a consultation about a donor egg :)

Have you used a donor before? This is our first time and also our last chance, can't afford any more after this one.

I hope they speak better English in Barcelona than they do in Gdansk :D

Hi. Yes it's our first appointment. They spoke perfect English on the video conference so that's hopeful. How did you find Poland

It's a great clinic but they don't seem to have many English patients so speaking English isn't a priority for them. We muddled through but it was hard work. All the consent forms were in English for us and the doctor was very helpful. I found the people a little cold and matter of fact, which is fine but our nurses here in the UK are kinder.
Good luck for tomorrow

Well all went well. They are doing loads of gene tests and will get back to us in three weeks with results. Very impressed so far

After all the research I did looking for a clinic I found that clinics abroad do more tests (and quicker) than they do here in the UK. My polish Doctor rang us with some results at 10pm the day after, you wouldn't get that service here :) They did Karotype blood tests, I don't even know what that means!

Hello, I started a donor egg cycle last week with Care in the UK, will keep an eye on how you get on x

suzylee73 · 31/05/2014 21:08

What stage are you at Lauren? I am still waiting for a donor (it's only been 4 days!) I have had IVF before but it's a bit different with a donor egg.

Lauren83 · 02/06/2014 08:40

I had own egg ivf last aug then a cancelled own egg ivf in Dec, I'm 30. Knackered ovaries due to endo and early menopause

It only took 3 weeks to get matched we couldn't be believe it, I had a scratch then started down reg 10 days ago

foxinorangesocks · 02/06/2014 20:57

Hey Lauren, been meaning to catch up with you - how is downregging? And how did you find the scratch? Mine is on Friday..

Lauren83 · 02/06/2014 22:34

Have you got a start date for down reg? Scratch was fine don't worry, they had dramas getting in but I knew they would they struggled with transfer at St Mary's last time, because of it they want to sedate me for my transfer now annoyingly, not because it hurt just so they can man handle me more x

foxinorangesocks · 03/06/2014 07:33

I start cd1 so poss next Friday. I never had to downreg before. Are you finding it ok? Sorry it was a faff. Access can be a real issue for me, so much so I had to have a dilation so know what a pain it can be.

foxinorangesocks · 03/06/2014 07:35

Ps what are folks thoughts on starting an All Things Donor Conception thread? Had a bit of a negative run in with the anti donor squad on mn a few weeks ago so have avoided starting one. Might it be helpful though?

Lauren83 · 03/06/2014 08:33

They had to manually fill my bladder at egg transfer too as I have a dodgy bladder seeing a urologist at mo too, would rather not be sedated but if it helps them I'm happy, I warned him and he said he would manage but he even laughed after first attempt and kept changing equipment as nothing could get through, nothing's sime is it!

If I'm honest I feel like crap, bad headaches and extreme tiredness, yes do start one? At least we know what's to come? I can put up with the anti donor brigade of you can? X

foxinorangesocks · 03/06/2014 10:54

Sorry you feel crap. I really am not looking forward to down regging, yuk yuk and yuk. Ok then, later I'll start a thread for anyone involved in donor conception and beyond. Some of the comments floored me the other week but I'd imagine it's not going to invite in 'the opposition'

aprilanne · 03/06/2014 11:08

ladies i have no experience of this .but i just hope you all become the mummy,s you are hoping to be good luck .being a mother is a wonderful thing x

suzylee73 · 03/06/2014 13:07

Anti donor brigade!!!???

Thanks aprilanne :)

Lauren83 · 03/06/2014 18:47

Thank you Aprilanne, that's lovely of you!

Yes there's a huge anti ivf brigade and a huge anti donor brigade, they usually hang around on Daily Mail site

I need donor eggs due to endo leaving me in the menopause at 30 before I had any children, been trying for 7 years but its too late now

Kannet · 03/06/2014 19:39

Our own thread is a good idea. I won't know for three weeks if I can have donor eggs. Be nice to talk to people in the same boat
