so I've got egg collection in the moring and am really nervous , please share your experiences xx

I had mine yesterday. It's honestly not as bad as you think, it was scary when they took me in to theatre but all the nurses were lovely, they put me into a strong sedation (was basically asleep, dont have any recollection of what's going on) then I woke up had a cup of tea and went home.
I was abit tender and side yesterday and today but I have just been relaxing and taking it easy. Good luck x

I was sedated with something but it had no effect. What i mean was I didn't really feel the procedure at all but was fine to just walk out of the theatre (they wouldn't let me - insisted I go into a wheelchair!
I think I felt more pain when they put the thing into my hand to administer the drugs to be honest, and that wasn't really painful.
This might make you laugh... when my DH went off to the little room to do his sperm sample he found a print-out of the katherine Jenkins Wikipedia page! Someone else obviously had very particular tastes!

Thanks guys, that's what I'm nervous about the sedation part , last time i was getting out under for my laparoscopy I had u had a panic attack in the thearter ! Lol thanks for your replies , how long did it take for you to come round from sedation? X

I was in the theatre and back out drinking tea within 30 min. To be honest that's what I was worried about too, but it happened so quickly I didn't really have time to get stressed! I would say don't plan anything to energetic for a few days after though, the more eggs you have the more uncomfortable you will be the next day and I wouldn't have fancied going to work today x

Don't worry, it'll be fine! I had an anaesthetic rather than sedation and it went really quickly; although I agree with StackALee that the most painful part was when they administered the drugs.
I apparently spent the entire time starting sentences and forgetting that I had before I managed to finish them, trying to ask the doctor questions (he was very patient with me) and attempting to lift my head with the hand that had the needle for the anaesthetic in it, thus causing myself to bleed slightly. I also kept trying to tell my husband about yoga positions. (I remember being much more coherent, but witnesses claim otherwise.)
I did completely vomit shortly after the procedure (because of the anaesthetic) and slept for the rest of the day, but the procedure itself was a doddle. Good luck!

Lol that made me laugh Emmagh that will be exactly what I will be like ! Thanks everyone you've made me feel a little more at ease !! Aw well no going back now.! I'm sure I'll be fine :/ that's a nuther worry I have Pcos and 40 eggs in total but the lead eggs are only 15mm , not as big as ther should be and I have that many follicles due to Pcos it's unsafe to stim me For any longer , can you recall the size of your Follys on the day of your last scan xx

I only had 8 eggs, just remember that you just need one good one :) I am sure mine were only up to about 17mm if I remember correctly.
By the time the fertilisation was done I only had 2 worth putting in but it worked and I now have a lovely little boy.

Thanks guys !! Means a lot , it was absolutely fine I actually enjoyed the sedation lol the embryologist can to see me bedtime hand and sed we were only expecting 2/3 eggs according to the scan , any way we got 15!!!! Just awaiting a phone call to see how many are mature enough for fertilisation :) the only thing I will say is I'm getting terrible shooting pains up my bum (sorry) must be form the peserie I'm guessing xx

Congratulations! I read somewhere that 15 is the optimum number of eggs to give you the highest chance of IVF success. I never got that many, but now have a beautiful baby girl after my fourth attempt. Fingers crossed for you!

Well done! The ACU at King's told me that they always hope for at least 10, so at 15 you've done brilliantly! Hope you start to feel better soon.

13 were mature enough to fertilise I'm feeling much better now the drugs have wore off thankyou ! All 13 fertilized with icsi so will wait to see how there are in the moring. , thanks girls xx

That's so wierd you have the exact same numbers as me just a few days egg, got 15 eggs and 13 fertilized!!

Wow really that's wierd lol , when is your egg transfer then ? Have you had it today? Mine is Friday if all goes as expected , we will be on the 2ww at pretty much the same time , good luck to you xx

Mine will be on Saturday, they are aiming for 5 day transfer so we will be on the tww together :) we can drive each other insane!

Oh I would like a blast transfer if ther made it but it would land on a Sunday so not possible , well done you that brilliant . And yeh it will be good to have some one going through the same emotions and some one to keep us sane if we are symtoms spottong crazey'! Is this your first Ivf x

Yeh first Ivf , didn't get offerd iui, had six munth of clomid which resulted in no pregnancy, since clomid I've had laparoscopy and die test and countless other tests! Sorry to hear about your misscaraige how sad xx

Hi I went and there sent me home beciuse there was 7 top grade embrios left so there a leaving me till Monday for a blastocyst transfer :/ actually that would be tomorow I'm a bit nervous ther won't be any left !! How did you get on. ? Xx
