Hi,

I started down regulation fri 16th and have been told the clinic will call me 2nd June to tell me to start stimming and book in my follicle scans. All is going well so far no major side effects but my concern is im not having a scan/blood test to confirm down regulation. How will they know its working?

Anyone else experience this?
Thanks

Hi mrsf, I started down reg drugs on 19th and I am not being seen until 9th, due then to start stimming on 11th. I think it is normal timing. I am then scheduled to go in for scan pre EC on the 20th with EC on 23rd.

Are you finding any side effects from dr drugs? Apart from being more tired and having to pee more (due to upping water intake) I have not noticed anything else.

Thanks for your reply lumen. I am not being seen at all before starting stims, will just recieve a phone call.
I think I've been quite lucky in terms of side effects. Very tired but no hot flushes or mood swings. I did have a red itchy area appear around the injection site for the first few days but this has subsided. How about you? Any other side effects?

That's strange that they are not scanning you, but from what I have seen all the fc's are very different in their approach to IVF. Glad to hear you are not having too many side effects. I am sniffing my dr drugs, so no nasty needles yet. I will start injecting when I start stimming, but will continue with the sniffing until I take my trigger shot.

Am really struggling with the tiredness, have had to blame it on side effects of hay fever meds to family who have asked what it wrong with me Wink. Although I have not taken any hay fever meds since we started ttc almost 3 years ago.

Nice to have found a cycle buddy Smile

Hi mrsf, have you heard anything else from your FC? Are they still just calling you on Monday?

MrsF09 · 01/06/2014 10:04

Yes, excited to move on to the next stage.
How are things with you?

What are your thoughts on Bourne Hall so far? x

MrsF09 · 05/06/2014 08:58

Im happy I think, they are easy to contact and respond quickly to any queries.
The only negative is they seem fixed on a "typical" protocol with not much personalisation.
Are you at bourn? What are your thoughts?

Not yet, a friend is pregnant with her second boy, both were ivf through Bourne Hall so the family are all keen on there and suggesting using it but wondering what other peoples experiences are. Probably will go there due to location anyway! Shame its not more personal, I think that's important when going through this!

MrsF09 · 12/06/2014 13:47

Just been for my first scan and its all now more personal. I would really recommend them. Sorry my previous post sounded a bit negative.

Hi OP
Hope your IVF was a success??
I know when I was just starting out as an IVF newbie I stalked a load of these threads trying to find information out as it’s a terrifying and very lonely experience at least to start off with. There are thousands of ladies on Instagram who you may be able to connect with for some support and guidance, I have a totally seperate Ivf Instagram account and have met some incredible friends and people through it.

With regards to Bourn hall specifically... to give some background I was 29 when we started IVF for male factor issues. We are using a speak donor and I am in perfect fertile state... so really there should have been no issues. Of course nothing is ever guaranteed but Bourn Halls treatment of us was appalling. Totally apathetic, never called us back would only communicate over email (if they felt like it). Nurses would call to deliver bad news such as “your husband has zero sperm count” or “your only remaining embryo didn’t survive the thaw” and when you would be desperately asking questions follow it up with “I’m not the person to ask you need to speak to a doctor I’ll see if someone can call you back” (rarely happened) after three successful attempts with bourn their only advice is that I should consider losing weigh despite the fact my weight is considered optimum for IVF and I am not overweight. I asked for a call back in January and never heard anything back from them and have since started treatment with Care and cannot tell you the difference we are already noticing with the treatment we are receiving. Saw our GP the other day and mentioned our experience and she stated that Bourn have a very bad reputation.
I’m not just saying this because I am sour that we haven’t had our baby yet, but honestly if you are looking to go with Bourn, proceed with caution.

Sorry! Spell check!! Unsuccessful attempts!!!
