Anyone remember me? Donor match! :)
Lauren83 · 13/05/2014 11:43
Hi ladies
Not sure if anyone remembers but I posted earlier in the year as I had been diagnosed with early menopause due to severe endo, I had 2 ivfs one failed one was cancelled, well I got matched with a donor last week and start our donor egg cycle next week!
I got some really kind messages of support from you guys and it helped a lot thank you
Be grateful for any put from donor treatments ladies, or donors x
Shellster52 · 13/05/2014 15:04
Yes I remember you!
Never realised that your early menopause was due to endo? Didn't realise endo could cause this?
Am so happy for you. I start IVF next week too!
Lauren83 · 13/05/2014 16:19
What day do you start?? I start on the sat or sun, having a scratch on the Fri, how you feeling about starting?
The clinic said my premature menopause is the damage to my ovaries caused by the endo
resipsa · 13/05/2014 16:58
I'm in DE FET 2WW - agh! - and wish you all the luck in the world. I am a believer in DEs. Our fresh cycle worked (but sadly didn't last).
Lauren83 · 13/05/2014 17:12
Congrats on being pupo! When's your otd? Had you cycled with OE before? Is it unknown donor? Sorry for all questions, I'm a pro at IVF but DE is new to me :)
resipsa · 14/05/2014 07:40
OTD was yesterday but I still haven't cause I am thinking the worst and can't bear to see it as this is the last cycle we can afford.
Yes, did OE cycle (age 42) last year. 3 day 2 embies put back. BFN, obvs.
Yes, unknown donor through Care.
Have DD(3), naturally conceived, who wants a baby sister...
Shellster52 · 16/05/2014 06:34
Not sure when I start. Usually I ovulate day 15 and cycle lasts 25-26 days. But for some reason (I think due to taking Aspirin) I ovulated day 19 this cycle, so I am guessing cycle will be 29-30 days long? Today is day 27. So just waiting for my period to start but it seems like I will be just a few days behind you.
So how does the DE cycle work Lauren. Do they use drugs to synchronize your cycles so that the embryo will be ready to implant when you are at the correct stage of your cycle?
I have never had endo so doesn't explain reason for me though, but it makes sense in your case that endo would cause damage to your ovaries. Have been working really hard doing several things that have actually been researched to improve embryo quality. So I am hoping that this IVF is a case of quality over quantity.
How are you resipa. Is that a promising sign if OTD was yesterday and your period still hasn't arrived?
resipsa · 16/05/2014 17:33
Hi Shell. Nope, not good as medication stops any bleeding unless you miscarry (as happened to me in Dec). Could just be that nothing there.
How are you?
Shellster52 · 17/05/2014 04:23
How am I? Wishing I could be knocked unconscious for a month and wake up with IVF all over with and me pregnant! I hate the emotions that go with IVF. Just waiting for my period to arrive any day then getting a day 2 scan to see if I have enough follicles to proceed (I am usually a poor responder).
This is my 6th attempt and I am trying something new this cycle. Usually I want to know all the details but this cycle I am going numberless! Just going to ask if there are at least 10 follicles at day 2 scan as I have decided that is the minimum number I would like to make it financially worthwhile to proceed. Then at follow up scans, just going to ask if at least 5 are growing to make it worthwhile going ahead with the biggest expense of EC. Not even going to ask how many eggs after EC.
I am not really familiar with DE cycles (yet!) but obviously it's different medications, as my failures have always resulted in my period arriving. Still delaying testing? I can totally understand your fear and not wanting to do it if you have decided this is your last attempt. On the other hand, I just want you to test and come back here and type in big bold letters that you are pregnant! I just know the pain all too well and so want it to work for you.

Lauren that's great news. It's such an exciting feeling being matched. Hope your cycle happens quickly and it's not long till you get that bfp. I had DE ivf 18ish months ago - we now have the most beautiful little girl. Who was worth the wait. Good luck.
Respisa I remember you! You sent me a lovely PM last year. I hope you got your bfp xxx
Lauren83 · 17/05/2014 22:11
Resispa when you gonna test?? Your so good not testing yet, I bled before otd you know full flow despite the meds
Shelster I'm so glad we are cycle buddies, what day you expect to bleed then? Mines fri-mon, even though they said pof I'm still bleeding but had some 14 day cycles, I have a scratch booked fri, yeah I start down reg so does the donor and recipient, we will all down reg slightly diff times, when she start stimms I start on meds to thicken lining. I admire your attitude towards next cycle you can get obsessed with numbers
Pocket thanks so much and congrats, always nice to hear from other donor mums so thanks both x
TheBuggerlugs · 18/05/2014 18:15
Oh oh oh I remember you Lauren.
This is FABULOUS news, I wish you all the luck in the world. Ill be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a successful outcome.
Lauren83 · 18/05/2014 18:19
Thanks Buggerlugs!
Everyone was so so lovely when I first posted earlier in the year about my situation, I never thought a few months down the line I would have a donor and ready to cycle
Hope you're ok and enjoying the weather! X
TheBuggerlugs · 18/05/2014 18:21
It seems to have flown in finding a donor for you. Its brilliant news.
The weather is brilliant, I'm loving it
Shellster52 · 19/05/2014 00:31
Lauren, not sure what pof stands for in your above comment? Also, what does OTD stand for?
To answer your question, I thought my period would arrive today but it hasn't. So I expect any day now. I am most nervous about my first day 2 scan to I can know I have enough follicles to start IVF... so I jut want my period to show up so I can get that hurdle over with.
I admire your strength and attitude and wish you the world of luck.
Lauren83 · 20/05/2014 17:37
Ah sorry.. Pof is premature ovarian failure, otd official test day. It's horrible waiting for it, still no sign? Mines due over weekend. Usually late when I'm waiting for it! X
Shellster52 · 21/05/2014 06:14
Yes, I was expecting mine today and it hasn't shown up either - talk about a mind body connection! Thanks for the acronym explanation.
Lauren83 · 21/05/2014 22:20
The earliest mine might come is Fri, be funny if we start on same day! I might have to down reg longer whilst my donor and the other recipient sync too
Shellster52 · 22/05/2014 02:37
Well, my period has arrived today. I am booked for a scan tomorrow to make sure I have enough follicles to make it worthwhile financially to proceed. So you might be a bit behind me - although I feel like you have a much better chance than me because you are using donor eggs while I am still hoping for a miracle with my few eggs that I get.
Lauren83 · 22/05/2014 12:31
Good look for your scan, I have my scratch tomorrow. If we had the money I would keep trying with mine, I'm sharing a donor too so not expecting big numbers
Shellster52 · 23/05/2014 06:37
I wish the scratch was offered here in Australia. I've only read great things about it. So it's less expensive if you share the donor? Does the donor get paid for her contribution? Sorry for stupid questions. Donor egg is new to me, and perhaps by slowly familiarising myself with it, it won't seem such a foreign idea if my IVF fails.
I had 13 follicles at scan today. Usually only have 6-8. The Aspirin really does help (or at least in my case as I don't have endo). Still, it's no guarantee so still not excited. Just one more hurdle passed.
Lauren83 · 23/05/2014 12:44
That's great news was thinking about you, the donor gets £750 gbp. It is cheaper to share a donor yes, exclusive donor icsi could be heading towards £9,000 gbp they told us. The nhs are finding me for this cycle luckily.
We paid £210 for the scratch they had issues getting in (I had a tricky transfer last time) so they want me to go to theatre for egg transfer this time and be sedated
How are you feeling? Positive I hope?
Shellster52 · 24/05/2014 07:57
I guess better to be sedated so they can get the embryo in the right spot!
Not quite sure how I feel. I don't feel excited because I think after 5 previous IVF failures, I know that just because I have a whopping 13 follicles at day 2 scan thanks to Aspirin, women still have many more than this and still get BFN. So I am telling myself to expect BFN and I don't feel excited. But on the other hand we are going away in 5 weeks and I have been buying healthy foods to take away in anticipation of being pregnant-so I don't even know what's going on in my head!
sideshowbob2 · 30/05/2014 10:51
hi lauren83 you sound like you are in the same situation as me!
i started treatment on tuesday, using donor egg and donor sperm and i had the scratch too, just waiting for a withdrawal bleed now as i came off the pill on wednesday, to get everything in line with the donor egg, i have a baseline scan on wednesday as long as i bleed before then, i was most nervous of injecting myself but i managed it, the docs are looking at embryo transfer at the end of june and i will be using glue as well as the usual pesseries and medication!! can you give me any advise on what to expect during treatment??
