Blood tests suggest I'm not ovulating

Hi everyone, I found out a couple of days ago that my day21 blood tests suggest that I am not ovulating and I am feeling a bit shocked and helpless at this news. I have been trying for 12 months, doing OPKs for 8, ClearBlue ones for 3 months, and I always get a positive opk two days in a row around cd16. I have just started temping this cycle and had a big rise in temp yesterday morning, cd16, but then a big drop in temperature again this morning. Does all this mean I am probably getting the LH rise but then nothing happens? This is all just starting to feel way over my head, and I feel rubbish that we have invested so much effort into ttc this past year when I might not even be ovulating.
My GP has referred me to see a gynaecologist but there is a 5 month waiting list. Does anyone know will I have to wait until I see them to get any further with this or is my GP able to prescribe clomid or similar?

Thanks for reading my message and thanks in advance to anyone that can help shed some light on this!

I would see if you can be seen earlier if you do know where you have been referred to. Sometimes cancellation appointments can become available so it is worth calling them.

I would stop using the OPK s and such like as these are not always helpful even when periods are regular in nature.

GP to my knowledge cannot prescribe clomid; also you should be monitored whilst on it as it is quite powerful stuff. No monitoring is a no-no also because you then do not know whether its working or not.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost.

How long cycles... Maybe you tested on wrong day.
Ie if you ov on day 16 your cycle would be 30 days
How many tests?
Did you test cd2 too for hormones like lh and fsh.?

Day 21 bloods will only be accurate if you ov on day 14....you should get your bloods redone on day 23 next month.

I am not ov at all, never got positive opks, and have been prescribed clomid which I am due to start in a day or two.

So funny cos I spent ages hoping AF wouldn't come so id be pregnant and now I'm hoping she comes so I can start clomid!!

Thanks for replying, sorry I have taken so long to respond to you!

Attila thank you for your advice, I think you are right, I will stop using opks next month, they seem to cause more trouble than they are worth sometimes. I suppose you need to go through a clinic or the hospital then in order to receive the monitoring?

naty the blood test was done slightly off day 21, it was only 4DPO and 4 days before AF arrived, I had a ridiculously short LP that month! I am having the D21 blood tests done again this month to see if they can catch the correct day this time, on CD22 and 26, but it is hard knowing when to pinpoint it with irregular cycles isn't it! I am just fretting now as I have read that positive opks don't necessarily mean ovulation and with the drop in temperature I am worried that the blood test could be right about not ovulating. I have never had any of the other symptoms before; ewcm, cramping etc, but never thought anything of it. Gosh, sorry for all the waffle, it just feels like such a minefield!

blondie did your GP prescribe you clomid or are you going through a fertility clinic? Good luck for you, how long have you been trying for?

If that cycle was unusual then the results probably dont mean anything, its usual to have an non ovulatory cycle occasionally. Such a short lp would be a sign.
It is worth getting a fsh and lh test done on day 3 as this could show if you have pcos and explain not ovulating.
Evening primrose oil tablets seemed to help with ewcm.

Thanks naty, I hope it was just a funny month, or the wrong day. Will find out soon enough, should get the results from this month in a week or so, then maybe I will request day3 tests done too. Can these actually be done on day3 regardless of cycle lengths!?
Thanks for the tip about EPO too, will have to add that to my shopping list.
