Do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?.

I would say that if PCOS is present these kits are not worth using at all as these measure LH. As many women with PCOS have an excess of this hormone to start with the kit simply reads that excess level.

Are you under the care of a gynae at a clinic currently and if so are they any good?. I ask this as it is fair to say that some units are far better than others.

Yeah I've been diagnosed with pcos but they said my hormones were all fine and tht I'm ovulating so was hoping the cbfm would be ok to use . I'm at Edinburgh clinic and so far no I wouldn't recommend I've been passed from pillow to post , still don't have an answer to my problems and still not receiving any treatment I'm back on the 1st May to discuss this further as I'm not happy with the whole situation . Do you have pcos as well?

I think i would rather metformin than use cbfm.
(It didnt work for us as we had MFI undiagnosed at the time)
Im not sure you can have pcos and have normal hormones, that would only be cystic looking ovaries, but could be wrong.

I would seek the advices of another clinic because some private clinics are certainly better than others. On what actual basis did they say your hormone levels are ok and that you are ovulating?. Spontaneous ovulation can happen even with PCOS but ovulation is unlikely to be regular all the same.

TBH given what you have written about them I would find another clinic to work with now. You could well be being given the complete runaround here. It is vitally important that you can all work as a team and that is clearly not happening here with regards to yourselves and the clinic.

Hi ladies I had a scan , blood tests , 8weeks urine sample , and my tubes were looked at . This was there diagnosis ( pcos , normal range of hormones , and after 5 different tests for ovulating they found one month that I'd ovulated in December) they then told me they couldn't give me medication and there was nothing more they can do for me. They sent me on my way and said they would put me on the list for Ivf (12month waiting list) i stupidly accepted what they said over the past couple month I've been given so much great advice from ladies off these sights that's given me the push to calm them back to re assess there diagnosis as something is not right . Can I ask for a second opinion ? I'm on the nhs as I can't financially find private clinics?

I have pcos and have had 3 different tests for ovulation and each time it showed I'd ov'd. I also used opk pre finding MFI and they showed a 'normal' pattern. I definitely have pcos as shown on my scan yesterday.

I guess what I am trying to say is yes you can have a 'normal' hormone range and have 'pcos' (I was really shocked when I was diagnosed) but I don't see why you can't ask for a second opinion- it's worth an ask?

I would insist to the GP that you are re-referred to another NHS fertility unit as again it is fair to say that some of them are far better than others.

OPKs as well are not recommended to use if PCOS is an issue because they measure LH. If the levels of LH is high to begin with the kit just reads that excess level.

Thanks ladies , I'll insist on a second opinion. Don't think they realise just how much not being able to conceive affects you on a day to day basis . Fingers crossed for us all x
