Ec and only 2 eggs retrieved :(

Hi girls,

Looking for some positivity! I just came beck from ec and only had 2 eggs retrieved! I knew I wasn't responding well due to
The low amh, but still, 2 is pretty bad!

Anyone got similar stories to share ? Even if you didn't get a bfp, I'm just praying that at least one of them fertilises and becomes an embryo, or am i delusional?! Xxx

Hi chatty. Sorry to hear about your low number of eggs at ec. Just remember though that it only takes one good one and it is definitely quality over quantity.

I underwent a cycle of IVF last year. With my amh level of 0.63 pmol, I knew I would not produce many eggs. I had 2 follicles on all the scans and they collected 2 eggs. They both fertilised and both went back in on day 3. I am now busy feeding my dd, who was one of those 2 embryos. I know we were incredibly lucky, but it just shows that even with so few eggs collected, happy outcomes can happen.

Good luck!

That's amazing breezy and Just what I needed to hear! Even if I can just get the two (or one) to fertilise and look like a reasonable embryo it will give me hope for next time! How old we're u when u managed this if you don t mind me asking?

No problem at all, ask away! I was (still am till tomorrow!) 35. I have a history of rmc, unexplained infertility and immune issues so this was a last shot at being a Mum after 5 and a half years ttc. The Consultant who treated me was as shocked as I was to get a BFP and then not miscarry, so this one was definitely a keeper!

The clinic where I went specialised in treating low AMH poor responders and constantly kept my spirits up with stories of women who had the same response as me, or worse, and gone on to be Mums.

My younger sister did an IVF cycle over Christmas and got 12 eggs, all of which fertilised. They had a top quality blast put back on day 5 and she got a BFN. There really is no rhyme nor reason as to the outcome of a cycle.

It's out of your hands now, and down to some Petri dish action, so fingers crossed you get some good news in the morning!

Yes it does seem to be down to luck! Well who knows, I sort of feel like we must be due some luck- we've had nothing but bad news on this ttc journey so far.... Glad it worked out for you too!

Good luck. We only had one, 'bad quality' embryo who is now lying next to me in bed- it only takes one egg so stay positive!! Hard I know... X

Thanks sugar- that's amazing for you! We ve had the call now to say that 1 fertilised normally, so we now have a whole 1 embryo who I m routing for! Thanks for providing some hope though xx

That's great chatty!!! They only let us put one back anyway, and it only takes one :) I'm feeling positive you! X

What day do they plan to do the transfer Chatty?

Chattycat78 · 26/04/2014 13:33

Hey shell- day 3 if we get that far. I'm aware that our little embryo may not make it to day 3 but am crossing everything that it might!
Thanks for your positivity Happily- I appreciate it! X

My last egg collection, 3 were collected and only 1 fertilised too! It was great quality at day 2 transfer. I had read both positive and negative things for sex after transfer and decided that this would happen in a natural conception so decided to have sex. After that I felt all tingly in my uterus so I know the embryo was up to something. Unfortunately my period came so it was not to be - but so close. I want to give you a positive story but that is as close as I have! Keep us posted - will be thinking of you. Hopefully you can be my positive inspiration for my IVF next cycle as I don't get many and have to also remember that it is all about quality, not quantity.

I had more eggs collected, 10 on first ivf but only 7 mature and only 1 normally fertilised with icsi but i have a 22m old DD now. it was at 32.

blueberryboybait · 27/04/2014 09:43

On another positive (possibly scary) story - My best friend got 2 eggs from ec, both fertilised but were poorly graded, they opted to carry on with transfer - she now has triplet 9 month olds.

Chattycat78 · 27/04/2014 11:25

Hey guys, thanks for the hope stories. Naty glad your egg worked out for you! I guess it does go to show you! Blueberry- wow that's unbelievable! One of them must have split at stage. Triplets yikes!

Thanks shell- when do u start your next round?

Today is CD8 and I am starting IVF next cycle. Well... at least I am hoping to start next cycle. I will be getting a day 2 scan to see if I have enough antral follicles to make it worthwhile going ahead. So ET on Tuesday - will you get an update Monday as to how your embryo is going?
