Possible pcos - do I ovulate??

Been ttc no2 since august not having regular periods one cycle was 70 days long another was 51 days this cycle was 43 days so its getting shorter! anyway I got a definite positive on an opk about 14/15 days before I started this period so does this mean I definitely ovulated??
Had an internal scan the other day she said It didn't look like I had any cists on my ovaries, had bloods done now waiting for my doctors appointment to see what they say!

Also the only other time I got a positive on an opk again I started my period 15 days later so im wondering if I do still ovulate but just not very often?!

No re definitely ovulated; the kit only picked up an LH spike that day (and those can happen more than once throughout a cycle). It is quite possible to have periods too without actually ovulating; PCOS makes that scenario far more likely. A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days; consistent long cycles are more likely to be anovulatory cycles.

OPKs are next to useless when it comes to PCOS and are thus best avoided in terms of usage. These kits operate on two misleading principles; namely that there is one rise in LH every month and that such a rise is followed by ovulation. Both of these are not true.

Many PCOSers have an excess of LH hormone so the kit reads that excess and gives a false positive result.

The cystic follicles associated with PCOS can and do disappear only to be replaced by further cystic follicles. Also the cystic follicles are very small and it can take a skilled sonographer to spot them. You would need more scans and blood tests done to get a proper picture of what is happening.

Would GP be willing to now refer you to a gynae?, PCOS is well outside their general remit.

It is impossible to say without doing proper tests. I have pcos and the consultant did not think I was ovulating; I had long, irregular cycles (5-6 weeks long). I did always get a positive on an opk and my period 9/10 days later. When they tested my progesterone one cycle, it showed I did ovulate, although a week late. So you may be ovulating, based on your positive opk and getting your period two weeks later, but you can't know for sure unless you're referred for further testing. In the meantime, just dtd like you are!

Had results back from doctors she said they looked fine so maybe not pcos she didn't go into it just left me a voice mail shes referring me to a gyno as well which surprised me!
So just going to keep dtd and hope for the best maybe lie off the opks for a while

I found metformin and losing weight brought my cycles into a normal range. I was never massively overweight but I've lost two stones and my cycles are now regular. You might want to ask about metformin.
