5dp5dt Period pains :( any advice?
suzylee73 · 16/03/2014 20:58
I had a 5 day transfer on Monday 10th March. Today I started spotting and have period pains. I have had lots of twinges in the last few days which I hoped were implantation but now it's full on "dragging" pains low down
I don't think AF is even due till the 19th!
Anyone had this and still got a BFP? I don't want to give up hope but need to feel mentally prepared for failure

Hi Suzylee,
I'm not quite at your stage in the IVF process (start down reg this Saturday) however I've been reading loads about the IVF process. Lots of women have reported having AF symptoms following ET and have gone on to have BFPs! Pot, kettle, black but try not to worry about it! It won't be much longer before you can test and you will know for sure! Good luck! X

Hi Suzy,
I had period pains with my BFP (dd) but also with my negative cycles. Sorry I'm not much help, I think it can go either way so don't give up and I have my fingers crossed for you! When's OTD? x

Thanks for your crossed fingers
It's day 7 and I did a test, it was bfn but it was at 2pm and too early (that's what I'm hoping anyway)
I will try to leave it till day 9 to test again but it's so hard waiting

I had AF type pains throughout my 2WW after a 5dt; one night so strong they woke me up and I was convinced my womb was trying to expel the embryo or something. I got a really faint bfp with a superdrug super sensitive test, with first morning wee on 8dp5dt. I'm still getting AF type pains but they are not as strong now (OTD was wednesday, 11dp5dt so now I guess I must be 16dp5dt). I figure my womb has some stretching to do and that's bound to hurt. Honestly I don't think it means anything either way at this stage. But the 2ww is utter hell, good luck. xxx

Suzy if you test then do it with the first urine of the day, that's when the HCG is most concentrated. Lloyds pharmacy sell a test 'viola' which tests 5mcg of HCG (I think first response is 10mcg) and can be correct from 8 days prior to period due date.
Of course waiting is best, but I always struggle to wait :-) good luck, please let us know how you get on x

Thanks for the Lloyd's pharmacy test tip I have been using really cheap ones from Asda and always in the afternoon as that's when my willpower leaves me!
It's my 2nd day of brown spotting it's day 8 since transfer so a little late for implantation bleeding and a little early for AF. Not looking good so I'm going avoid confirming it with a test and try to remain hopeful
