Fertility Testing

I'm new on here and need some advice.

I'm 33 with PCOS, on dianette for 17 years. June 2013 had AMH 12.0, Dr advised start trying then but we weren't ready. Ready mentally now but need to sort out housing situation first, so could try now but would rather wait till next year.
Periods are getting lighter every time, have major mood swings and hot flushes, so have decided to have fertility checked that not going through menopause.
Gynaecologist has said need 6 weeks off dianette and to be tested in first half of cycle, which sounds very vague to me! I have my blood forms so it is up to me when I get tested.

Is there a cycle day that I should be tested that will better show my fertility?

Form has Thyroid, Vit D, Prolactin, FSH, LH, Testosterone and AMH. Is there anything else that should be tested for?

Day 3 of your cycle for testing FSH. Then day 21 to test progesterone to see if you've ovulated. I don't think it matters which cycle day for all the others but I may be wrong.

I had my AMH tested in jan 2013 and it was just over 14 pmol. Im about to turn 35. I'm still ttc. :-( Had all the tests last year (blood, scans and hsg) and they diagnosed us as unexplained as nothing abnormal showed up, and hubby's SA was also normal. Then last month I had a diagnostic laparoscopy to see if I could have endometriosis. Turns out I did. Although mild. They removed it so now we will have to wait and see if this makes any difference now. I hope it does! Really don't want to go through assisted conception.

All I can say is that going through tests and not finding anything wrong is bloody confusing. And stressful. But so is the repeated disappointment of trying every month and it not happening. It can't do any harm to go for the tests and maybe think about coming off your BC and monitoring your natural cycle until you are ready for ttc.

I agree that if you are getting all those tests done at once, better to do it on CD2 or CD3 for the sake of the FSH and LH. As Fankle says, the rest of the tests don't matter what day.

I just want to say there is no one simple blood test to say that you will conceive easily or not. I waited until we were ready and wish I had of started sooner had I of known. Age is the worst enemy. I am now 36, turning 37 in July and even though my initial blood tests were okay over two years ago, things are obviously not. Would hate for you to be in the depths of depression that infertility can cause and wishing you could turn back time and start trying sooner before you ran out of time. But of course, you have to do what is right for you and hopefully you don't have the same troubles!

I agree with Shell it can take a surprising amount of time to do tests and get referrals especially NHS.
Fertility drops off a lot at 35 for women. (And have seen a 30 year old told they are early menopausal.)
Im doing a 2nd icsi at 34 for a 2nd baby.
You really dont know till you start trying even with pcos you could be fine. (We had no idea about pcos and low sperm count)
Even if results come back fine there are no guarantees something like half infertile couples have unexplained infertility.
Is OH getting tested too?

I think testing Estradiol is also important because it affects the interpretation of the FSH levels.
