High FSH means no more babies

My doctor told me this week that i'm perimenopausal at age 38. FSH of 20. She said not to bother with fertility medications as they will be unlikely to work. She has prescribed me HRT and i know this sounds ridiculous but maybe the HRT may get things going again. Am i kidding myself. When a woman has a high FSH i'm told it is bad news. Two different private clinics that iv'e contacted recently have told me i have no hope.

A clinic in London has offered me Natural IVF, would this be likely to work i wonder ?

I'm not sure how it all works but my dsis went through a perimenopause at 33 and was told her fertility was very low and she had no chance of conceiving again. Dsis tried loads of things including acupuncture but it didn't work. She was offered the chance to go for IVF privately but the cost and waiting list put her DP off.
10 years later she knows there is no chance of getting pregnant but for a few years she was hoping and praying that the docs had been wrong.

I feel for you as I can remember how dsis felt and it must be awful to want something so badly and have the door shut on you so firmly. I hope someone with more knowledge can help you

Have they talked about egg donation?

High fsh means unlikely to conceive with own eggs, do you know if you can carry a child?

I had early menopause and gave birth following egg donation from a relative. Truly amazing and a roller coaster of a journey but definitely worth it. My dd is amazing and the egg donor thing is just a very tiny part of it now she's here and 2.5 years old!

I do have children whom i conceived very easily, my youngest is 7. My pregnancies were very easy and i was healthy (apart from morning sickness) and i gave birth naturally. I just wish i could give my husband a child of his own, he has no kids. Ideally i would have wanted a biological sibling for my children and i don't like the thought of the egg donor being someone i don't know. I think if i had a young female cousin i would consider egg donation, but the few female cousins i do have are all over age 40! One of the clinics i contacted did mention egg donation. A clinic called Create in London did say i may be able to have Natural IVF, without drugs, using my own eggs. Don't know quite how that would work though what with my high FSH. Obviously i have very few eggs left which are of poor quality. I will PM you if you don't mind x
