Hey,
I'm going to try to keep this as short as possible as I know people don't like reading things that look too long to read, I just really need some help, positivity and someone to talk to really.

First thing I have PCOS, have been trying for a baby for 5years now, been tried on clomid which did not work and never got my dose put up for some unknown reason.

Anyway, I always had problems with not having a monthly period , this time round it's different , I was bleeding from August till December then my doctor decided to try me on some tablets to stop the bleeding , they stopped me bleeding for 10 days then I started again, I've been bleeding for another 2 weeks now. I've been sent for blood test and got to go back for more on Monday. I'm just getting so depressed, I'm sick and tired of bleeding and spending so much money on sanitary towels ect. And also there has not been any time for any baby making within the last 5months.

Has anyone else had anything the same?? Please I need someone to talk to. I feel like giving up on everything :(

Natalie I too have PCOS but havent suffered extensive bleeding like you. I used to go a long time between cycles. I'm sure someone else might be able to help a bit more.

Have a google of 'Agnus Castus' it helped sort my cycles out a lot.

Sorry I cant be more help.

Also there is a website called Verity which is solely for ladies with PCOS. I know it has gone quieter on the boards in recent months but there may be an old thread on there with some advice. Smile

Thank you I'll have a look on verity. I've just bought some angus castus so hopefully this will work for me. Thanks

Please do not self medicate with AC as it can make some cases of PCOS far worse. If you did want to try this you need to seek the advice of a properly qualified medical herbalist beforehand.

In view of the ongoing bleeding you really need to see a gynae asap; the GP should refer you urgently to a gynae at a subfertility unit. Why are they still sending you for blood tests?. PCOS does not normally cause such bleeding to arise.

Clomid does not always work for some PCOSers (I was not even prescribed it as a PCOSer as they said it would not help me due to sky high LH levels, clomid can increase LH) but I would keep pushing for a referral to a subfertility unit and asap.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers, do not be fobbed off.

Do not give up!.

Be persistant with your GP and insist that you are referred to a gynae at a hospital's subfertility unit.

Natalie1988 · 19/01/2014 09:58

Thank you, he's referring me back to the gynae but I just feel it's pointless, I was under the gynae before I moved but all they ever told me was I need to loose weight before they do anything for me like I wasn't already trying to, then I got told it would be hard to loose weight because of the pcos but then when I went to my new doctor he told me pcos doesn't stop you from loosing weight, I'm jut being told different things all the time. I have struggled to loose weight since I first started my period when I was 11years old. I have tried hundreds of diets, I'll loose weight then the week after out it bk on then loose again then put it bk on, it's never ending and I really do not know what to do :(
I just feel so alone in all this, especially with the heavy bleeding (which has finally stopped but for how long I don't know).
I keep getting myself really down about it all, I mean 5years of trying and nothing.... Also I read on the nhs website that I should have been offered IVF by now so therefore why haven't i?
I'm not massively overweight but I do need to loose a stone or 2 but things aren't helping x

Hi, I've been tried on metformin and got told to stop it as it was making me bleed all the time.
I don't think I am ovulating, I just don't know what to do :( I've tried everything.

I don't think you've tried everything.
Get referred back to gyn.
Do try and get down to your ideal weight - fatty tissue is not just 'ballast', it is also hormonally active and will affect your cycle/ovulation.
You need to speak to a fertility specialist.

Natalie1988 · 19/01/2014 12:29

I'm trying to get my weight down, I am on a strict diet which does not seem to be helping me ATM I'm doing exercise ect. The hospital have even turned round to me and said if I don't loose weight there is nothing else then can do for me as they have tried everything apparently anyway.

Hi ladies, I'm just commenting on here to give you done inspiration. After trying for a baby for 2 yrs I went to dr and got referred to fertility clinic, at first appointment I was told I was too heavy and my BMI needed to be down to 30 before the would even consider treatment. My BMI at the time was 44 and I've been big all my life. I also have PCOS and thought I had an impossible challenge on my hands. Anyhow, that was Aug 12. After embarking on a weight loss journey thru weight watchers and a strict gym regime, my BMI is 29 and I've just had my first cycle if clomid and I'm in the waiting stage now to see if the follicle that in had showing on a recent scan and has ovulated according to OPK has been fertilised.

The dr used to always say losing weight would help regular my extremely hit and miss periods but I just thought he was saying that as I could go with a cough and be told to lose weight. Anyhow, lo and behold, not a month after I started my weight loss plan did I have a period, 6 weeks later another, then another, then another. My cycle has gradually got shorter and for the last 6 months or so it's between 4wk 2days to 4wk 5days.

Losing weight with PCOS is possible if you try hard and put the effort in and I've proved to myself that the bloody dr was right as it has regulated my periods!

Hi lcm23, thanks for commenting and actually giving me some hope. I have started back on a diet which did help me loose weight last year so thought I would try it again, it's called ultra slim abit like slim fast so I have a shake for breakfast and shake for lunch then a healthy meal for dinner, this seems to be the only diet that has helped me which is why I am giving it another go. I am also doing regular exercise so hopefully I will start to loose weight again, it's just so hard, I try my best and am really strict with myself but I just never feel like I am getting anywhere. X
