High FSH, LH and estradiol levels on cycle day 3, not goog!!

I'm 38 and always posting on here lol! Think i have just got myself into a bit of a state with TTC, it's been 19 months. Anyway, i recently had my hormone bloods taken on cycle day 3 at infertility clinic. My FSH was 20, not sure of the othever hormones, just was told they were high. The consultant has instructed me to start Clomid on day 2 of my next cycle, 2 tablets instead of 1 as my test results are indicative that my ovaries are struggling and need to be pushed harder. Iv'e not taken Clomid before. Would just like to know if anyone else has had high hormone levels and been told to take double the dose of Clomid on the first round ? Have you got pregnant ?

I think i'm perimenopausal as i do have several telltale symptoms of menopause. Reckon i'm just clutching at straws here and treatment with Clomid will be a complete waste of time. I must come across as a completely unhinged loon lol, i'm really not. This TTC business really does mess with your head when youv'e been at it for a while as i'm sure you ladies will agree xx

Just checked and you haven't replied to people's messages on a lot of your posts, you haven't to some of mine when I have offered advice, might be best doing that instead of keep creating new posts for very similar questions

You sound very anxious have you thought about counselling to help you come to terms with your test results? Our ivf clinic had offered it to us

Hi there, i'm sorry. Our internet connection has been playing up a lot lately, sometimes goes out for several days. Then i forget about threads iv'e posted and so forget to reply. I'm a bit of an airhead really and not really computer savvy! Again i apologise, and yes i think i do need some sort of counselling as i'm not handling all this at all well. Erin xx

Best bet is gather all your info into one thread, I can post anything I think might help and then you have it all in one place, are you under a care of a fertility clinic? Most do offer free counselling, you should look into it, also do you use any other forums? There's a really good fertility only one that might help, you will find loads of women with similar issues and there's different boards for different things like FSH for eg

Thank you Lauren. Yes i'm under an NHS infertility clinic. Spoke to them yesterday after chasing them up and they have told me to start Clomid on day 2 of my next cycle at double the dose. As all my blood results came back very abnormal, hormones other than FSH were also elevated so the nurse said my ovaries need to be pushed very hard. I think both myself and the clinic know this is a lost cause so don't know why they have given Clomid to be honest. I suspect they are just going through the motions to try and keep me happy. I just hate this whole menopause thing and am struggling to accept it. Not sure if the clinic offer counselling, i doubt it as i'm 38 and already have children. My doctor has suggested it. Yes, iv'e used acouple of different forums but mostly come on here. Anyway, how are you ? x

Not sure if in aloud to post about another form but fertility friends is your best bet for more specific stuff, I never tried clomid I went straight to ivf as I have damaged tubes, I have an appointment tomorrow to discharge me from the ivf unit as they won't treat me with my levels, I had one cycle then my FSH went from 8 to 23 in a couple of months

Have you queried why they are trying clomid?

No, i didn't ask, i guess i should have done. I had a doctor appointment yestaerday before i spoke to the clinic and he says the consultant at the clinic wouldn't be trying the clomid if he thought i had no chance at all. Perhaps i shpold phone them back and query it. Have you thought about going to a different clinic ? I think it does sound promising that your FSH was in the normal range at 8. It could have been a one-off cycle when the FSH was high. x

They rechecked it the month after, it was 19 and 23, to cycle NHS it has to be under 10, that's the only NHS clinic in my area and my AMH levels are 2, the cut off for that is 2, so wouldn't get NHS treatment now, private clinics want FSH to be less than 15, there's a clinic in Greece I mentioned to you before that takes ladies with results like ours and has great sucess but we aren't in a position to afford price treatment right now.

I would give the the clomid a shot I would try anything, what's your next move after clomid if it doesn't work?

Well the clinic have said that the Clomid is all they can offer, not entitled to any other treatment as i already have children, which is fair enough. It's the end of the road for me if clomid doesn't work, 99% sure it won't work. Like yourself, i can't afford to go private. Let's both hope we come into some money hey! Erin xx

Do you have children with the partner you are with now? I only ask as a friend has children but not with her partner now and she got ivf funded. Not sure what the age limits are though, possibly 39 in my area but it differs everywhere

And yes if I won the lottery it would be first on my list!

No, my husband doesn't have children, that's why we are so desperate, or rather i am. My hubby, says it doesn't bother him, he sees my kids as his own. But he is still young, 26 and i can't help feeling that one day he will want a child/children of his own. We have been told we definately won't get funded IVF as i already have kids xx

This friend has 3 children and definitely got funded for 3 cycles as she had none with her current partner, has your GP told you this? Every CCG (pct) is different, some don't even fund if your partner has a child even if the child lives with its mum, my partner has a daughter so I was worried we wouldn't but it differs everywhere, look into it call your CCG and ask for a copy of the assisted conception criteria for your area, do it soon as a lot don't fund past 40 xx

I have a copy of mine I just checked it, it says 1 of the couple must be childless (mother or father) and that they mustn't have any children from their current relationship, which you don't. X

My doctor and the fertility clinic told me that i am not entitled to funded IVF. I think it all depends on which area of the country you live in. I'm 39 in 2 months time so i probably wouldn't be accepted anyway even it it was funded. I'm thinking of phoning a private clinic about 40 miles away, have looked at their website. They want £190 just for a consultation. I guess i could manage that and see what they say. xx

I paid £150 for a private consultation last year it was worth it, I could be wrong but most private clinics wouldn't touch us with that FSH level you know that don't you? Not for own egg anyway, we are only allowed to try again with donor egg now us. How do you feel about donor egg treatment? That clinic I mentioned is good for ladies wanting to try with terrible blood results, its cheaper than uk clinics too. We have accepted donor eggs are the way forward now and will be doing that this year hopefully

Yeah, i doubt very much a private clinic will want to know, what with my age and poor blood results. Was that the Greek clinic ? I have seen it mentioned on other forums. I don't know about a donor egg. Ideally i would like for me and my hubby to have a biological child together, so with a donor egg the baby wouldn't be mine. But i guess i am more worried about the fact that hubby has no kids of his own, so using a donor egg, the child would be his. I have my children so this is more for him really. He is actually Greek / Cypriot and we were thinking of going for a holiday to visit his family at some point so maybe i should begin looking into this clinic. So can you have funded donor egg treatment then ? Do you just have to pay for the donor ? x

At first I had reservations about DE treatment, went to a few seminars on it, joined a couple of forums, read blogs etc, and all these worries about the child not being yours are never an issue for these ladies, its funny once you realise its donor egg or nothing like I did it suddenly becomes a much better option, I nearly had my cycle cancelled due to slow response, the lady in the next bed got 30 eggs to my 4, it was so stressful knowing I won't have my crappy ovaries to worry about takes so much pressure off.

My clinic only fund DE ivf with a known donor, and we don't know anyone that can do it, but there's a private clinic in Manchester that have a contract with some CCGs and they can treat some patients NHS there, and they can provide an unknown donor so we are in the process of looking into transferring our funding xx
