Starting IVF which cycle day for blood tests?

I've been told to ring the clinic when AF starts next which I think will be about a weeks time to book in for bloods to be taken. Which cycle day are they likely to want them on?

I'm worried it's going to fall over Xmas which would mean our IVF will be delayed as I have fairly long cycles.

Day two or three are the usual days. The nurse at my clinic says day two is better because the FSH can already have started to rise on day three. So hopefully the clinic will still be open then?

I think you came over and said hello on a thread I started for those who are currently doing IVF. Feel free to join in if it will help while you anxiously await your period and hope it comes in time. I am always looking and replying to any comments - a little obsessed at the moment while I am in my 2ww of an IVF cycle!

If I recall correctly, you are suffering secondary infertility. Have you been given any diagnosis as to what has changed since your first?

Hi Shellster, thanks for the reply. Yes the clinic should still be open then thankfully.

They said my first baby was a bit of a one off, I was really lucky. Things have got harder since then because of adhesions from my c section. They removed some during laparoscopy but not all and the consultant says it's highly unlikely the sperm would meet the egg with my one distorted tube. Also have some male factor too as H had an accident when little which can make his semen sticky or something. We will probs need ICSI but he goes for his test on 3/1 so we will know for sure after that.

I didn't think I should join ivf thread yet until we actually start but thanks for asking me! I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for your well wishes for me Sarah. I have been feeling really positive about this IVF cycle the last two days. I woke up this morning and contemplated doing a pregnancy test (I am 8 days past egg retrieval) as I have read other women on the internet getting a positive at 8 days.

But I was worried it might come up negative because it is too early or it might just come up negative because I am not pregnant despite my high hopes. Either way I will be devastated and it will be difficult to function at work today.

So I shall wait a couple more days in anxious hope!

I'm not sure how it works for ivf but I've always found it less painful to wait for a period than see a negative preg test. That's just me though and I hope you get a huge BFP!

I guess I am just in a hurry to know how IVF has gone so I can process the emotions and move on. I don't test every month because hubby has 100% abnormal sperm so I know it ain't happening naturally. But now that I have done IVF I can't help but desperately hope and wonder if I do a test and get a positive, I will be out of my misery. I will just see how I feel each day. Today is day 23 and my cycles are usually between 24 - 27 days so not too much longer to wait anyway - although every hour feels like a week!
