I've got half of one ovary, TTC 15mnths, too fat for IVF.

DP and I have been TTC for 15months and referred for investigations three months ago. The doctor immediately advised that with my current BMI I'd be ineligible for IVF so I have been losing Wright, 6kgs so far....
But, honestly, even when I am the eventual acceptable BMI, only one round is offered and I'm worried that due to my proclivity for cysts on the ovaries I wouldn't be a good candidate for the necessary pre-IVF drugs anyway... Ugh.
Has anyone with very little ovarian tissue managed to conceive naturally, any experiences? I'm expecting AF any day and I'm just feeling really blue about the whole shebang. DP is supportive but he's a very sunny soul and pretty 'what will be will be...'

Not a personal tale, but a good friend of mine has only half an ovary. It did take her a while (3 or 4 years?) but she conceived naturally while waiting for IVF. She went on to have another DC naturally. She also lost weight while on the waiting list for IVF.

I only have one ovary, I conceived on first round of clomid with my son.

Not happening this time around though...

Have you tried clomid?

I only have one ovary and I didn't even find out (and even then, only by accident) until after I'd conceived three kids without any trouble at all. I've never heard of having half an ovary but if it's possible to conceive with half an ovary then there's everything still to play for.

YoDiggity - I now have just half an ovary left after a second cyst was removed, taking significant quantity of ovarian tissue to get the cyst out intact. The first ovary was lost in its entirety with the first cyst. I'm a cyst-y creature apparently

Sarah FX, I am currently awaiting my follow up appointment with the reproductive clinic after initial blood tests and ultra sounds, so I guess maybe then medications will be discussed
It feels like ages since my initial appointment and the various blood samples...getting pretty curious about the results to be honest!
